I need random magic items for my meat space game. Anyone have the link back to the older DR magic item contest?

I am really grooving on the gauntlet blog. Great articles all around. A lot of meat there, plus you can bookmark certain ones to return to. I would love to see a blog roll though that reaches out to other gauntlets blogs. Don’t know how hard or easy that is. But that is a staple in OSR blog land, and how I got into the OSR in the early days before G+. I think blogs may take a more prominent roll again post g+ demise.

You can develop ideas fully in a blog that you might not in a slack conversation or g+ post.

Keep the gaming and community articles coming!

So I have a meat space DW in a few weeks – yeah found so,e gamers in north Houston. They will all be first time DW players so pressure is on. Most of the time I play with kids or others who have played DW. My style is pretty fluid.

Couple of questions

1 what is the immolator? I just listened to DR and saw link to recent playbooks. Mine are from sons ago, and didn’t have the immolator. What is this persons story or background flavor – I know all the other tropes.

2. What do you do when players run out of rations?

Listening to DR I think maybe some things I have missed in past play.

I just got through like the first 15 episodes of DR.

This is a great podcast. I went through lots of podcasts back in the Forge days when indie RPGS were becoming a thing. This one by far is the best one I have heard.

I learned a lot even though I felt I was an experienced DW GM.

DW is my prime reason for coming to the guantlet. Listening to Discern Realities was the prime reason for me getting back into looking for DW gaming after taking a break from RPG for a few years while I was an expat in Alberta. Now that I am settled I would like to get back into it again.

I think DR has loads of great ideas, and why I have become a Pateron.

I hope the Gauntlet continues to support DW even as it broadens its horizons (which is also exciting to see)

I know I would be interested in topics such as playing with kids. A lot of folks may only have time with hectic schedules to play with Family. It creates a different kind of game. Ideally I would love to see something that is kid friendly – but not smarmy. I know I try that with my kids. It is interesting, they have great ideas (sometimes repetitive or cliche) but other times fresh.

But at the same time the games let us explore ideas with the kids about inequality and how consequences have consequences.

One of the things I know I have discovered, is that I used to think I wanted deep and gritty or more tension in games. Think TV MA. I know that abounds in indie RPGs and the OSR (which I also follow and play using moldvay or SW white box). But through play discovered what I really wanted was more TV 14.

More flight of dragons and the hobbit and lord of the rings and he-man (maybe a little less cheese) or fighting fantasy sorcery and less game of thrones in your face or night of the living dead I only found that out through play though.

That is not to say that I don’t enjoy some deep gaming, once ina while with the right group. I have played for example Polaris which basically you either die or become a demon (I died). We did the whole thing with the ambience but that is for another post sometime. A really great game if you haven’t tried it, and one of the first GMless games.

It would be great if you are getting more voices on DR to hear about some different styles of play with Dungeon World.

That was a longer post than I was meaning to. So let me summarize by saying great podcast!

If you are interested in become a Pateron of gauntlet so that you can get a heads up In doing online gaming how does…

If you are interested in become a Pateron of gauntlet so that you can get a heads up In doing online gaming how does one go about doing that?

Does that give me a better chance of getting into a DW game online? They always seem full for the time slots I have available.

My real goal is to run one, it I understand the need to get some play time to build up trust.

What sort of gear do I need for online gaming? Besides a computer and internet connection. An old grognard here, I haven’t done any on,one gaming before, but think it might work better than random group of strangers in game store.

Right now I am mostly interested in DW. But I also like me some Polaris.

Peace, and apologies in advance for dumb questions.

An interesting take on ye old alignment.

What Jon wants to do in mazetown in order of priority

Get some shit – my equipment list is two broken pieces of a staff, one slightly used used holy symbols, one rock from the place where Rath pushed a little boy to his doom to be a pegboy for a githyanki pirate, and Ajax’s essence of strength (which smells a bit like axe body spray)

Stuff I want – a staff, a pipe and some halfling leaf, some rations to go with that stuff, some really expensive incense to offer to my god, some good wine in a dusty bottle to offer my god, maybe a torch and some rope

Find a seamstress to make another stole

A hireling – either a guide or some one to carry my light

A garden with some radical plants to get some cuttings or seeds for my garden shrine

Spend the rest of it carousing and maybe go home with one (or even better) two locals with enlightened ideas of free love

Sure beats getting bent over a drow altar or dealing with crazy old bitches some if which have wicked houses and a fingernail grooming issue.

Hence Jon’s need to be at the green githyanki public house.

Peace
