Jason Cordova, is it OK to advertise for players for a new FtF campaign in the Houston area?

Because my week is about to get a great deal busier, I will be unable to run OSR Tuesday after the 19th of January.

Because my week is about to get a great deal busier, I will be unable to run OSR Tuesday after the 19th of January. I’m sorry about this, but I won’t be able to run a game at that time for about six months (depending on the length of my contract), and most of my weeknights are already booked with other ongoing campaigns and commitments.

I would like it if someone would be willing to raise the Freak Flag and volunteer to be GM for a while. The only requirement is that you run an old Old-School game(Original Edition D&D, AD&D 1st Ed., B/X, BECMI, Traveller, etc.) or a new Old-School game (Torchbearer, DCC RPG, ACK, etc.).

Let me know if you are interested, so Jason and Rob can coordinate, etc.

We have plenty of seats available for tomorrow night’s session.

The players have their ship now, The Lady of Shalott, but what exactly is that mysterious cargo in the hold?

What about the former state security officer and his family, still locked up in their stateroom?

Who is Oliver, your enigmatic patron?

What system are you travelling to next?

Will the spike drive actually work, or blow you all up, Rolemaster critical-hit style?

And finally, will Geoffrey, the crippled AI repair bot, ever find happiness on a ship which violates so many safety protocols?

Find out tomorrow night!

Old School Tuesday just finished its first run of sessions in Lamentations of the Flame Princess.

Old School Tuesday just finished its first run of sessions in Lamentations of the Flame Princess. Congrats to Warren Denning for being the sole survivor with 1000 xp.

Now we are going to go on to the next group of sessions, and all of you who are interested in playing should vote on what to do next. Feel free to comment as well.

Google just rolled out a new version of Hangouts, which may be (for our purposes) inferior to the old one.

If you see a new interface when you open Hangouts (which you may not, but you never know), use the following instructions to go back to the old version:

“If you want to go back to the version of Hangouts you’re used to, visit http://g.co/hangouts or click the menu at the top right and choose “Original version.” “

One of the more interesting thing about LotFP, is that the default setting is the Pre-Modern world of the 17th century. Accordingly, your characters will be starting in London, circa 1640.

Here is a very interesting re-creation of the London of that era. Try and take a look at it before the game, if possible.

OSR Tuesdays Spotlight

OSR Tuesdays Spotlight

This will be an occasional entry/short essay on various things OSR and OSR Tuesdays related.

Probably the most important thing I can tell you before we play Lamentations of the Flame Princess (or any OSR RPG, for that matter) is to forget that you are playing D&D.

That’s because D&D takes up so much space in our collective RPG experiences, we often come to the table with preconceived notions about how D&D should be played. I’m here to tell you that it’s not true; you can play this game anyway you like.

In particular, there are any numbers of tools that gamers familiar with ‘story-games’ have in their toolkit, which can be employed during a session of LotFP. As a GM, I have used Fail-Forward, Roll With it, Say Yes or Roll the Dice, Say Yes and …, just to name a few.

I hope that all you, when you play, will remember the lessons you have learned from other games and apply them to playing this game. Just because it’s not written down somewhere, doesn’t mean you can’t use it.
