If you see a new interface when you open Hangouts (which you may not, but you never know), use the following instructions to go back to the old version:

“If you want to go back to the version of Hangouts you’re used to, visit http://g.co/hangouts or click the menu at the top right and choose “Original version.” “

  1. I should note that at least one of the posts on the link above claims that this will have no effect on “Event-based Hangouts”, but I have no idea if this is really true or not.

    I assume this means that every time we schedule an Hangout Event, the resulting hangout will use the old interface, but I won’t pretend to know how this will actually work out.
