And that brings us to the end cyberpunk for the time being. So many great games, so many good games, and so many other games. This list brings us up to last year and includes scenarios, d20 adaptions, and three flavors of cyberpunk PbtA. Enjoy!

I gather videos for all four sessions of GLW from GauntletCon. Our World Wide Wrestling events filled 19 seats. We had a great roster with returning favorites, established talent, and hot new recruits. GM Bleakwood’s cost-cutting hunt for cheap wrestlers brought in a host of talent. You can check out the vids and more at the post.

GAUNTLET 119: Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan

Episode 119 of the Gauntlet Podcast is up for your listening pleasure! In this one I talk with Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan about Cthulhu City, his approach to writing, and his voluminous output. Gareth’s one of the most productive and interesting creators in the industry. I mean, seriously. Check out this summary of books he’s worked on from RPG Geek: http://bit.ly/2hNOpDa. It includes sourcebooks, modules, adventure collections, and megadungeons. They list him at just shy of 200 releases and I’m pretty sure that’s incomplete.

Gareth delivers evocative ideas and amazing set-ups. He works on the trad side, but his rich concepts and plots can easily adapt to indie and story games.

A Year in Gauntlet

Last year Rich and Jason convinced me to run for The Gauntlet Hangouts. I did my first session on Sept. 1st, 2016—with a table of expert GMs. No pressure there. A year later I’ve played 92 sessions of 34 different Gauntlet games; 72 as a GM, and 20 as a player. In my post I talk about lessons I’ve learned or had reinforced over this year of gaming.

Woot! More cyberpunk and just in time to point out a few related items in the DTRPG Setting Sale. This installment sees a move to more modern thinking about technology, striking indie approaches to the genre, and great setting toolboxes. I’m still moving on with these lists for the next installment in October.

Episode 115 of the Gauntlet Podcast is up for your listening pleasure! In this one I talk with Derek A. Kamal about his upcoming Kickstarter project, Heavy Metal Thunder Mouse, a new Fate game. Kamal’s the designer of The Dig, a story game of Dwarven miners based on his novel, HOMES. I’m always curious about how people prepare for a KS project so we talk about that and the process of creating HMTM. We also talk biker gangs, what heavy metal means to him, and issues of faith. I had a great time recording this and I hope you dig it.

I love Origins and I love the Games on Demand area. It’s a great large con with easy access to great food. They’re not so great about informing people about this. Like I’ve gone the last five years and they still don’t inform me when the hotel bookings open. Which they did. Last week. Origins has gotten more popular so rooms have gone fast. The closest connected hotels have sold out. I got a room at the Marriott Courtyard (abt. 5 min walk). So there are still some. I also know many folks have had great success with Air B&B with Origins. Anyway, here’s the hotel page for the con: http://originsgamefair.com/hotels/

History of Cyberpunk RPGs: Part Four

Woot! Talk about cutting it close. I almost didn’t get one in for August. My excuse is Gen Con & getting drunk on all the phat loot from pawning my silver ENnie medal. Despite that, I managed to get in another installment of my Cyberpunk History lists, this time covering from 2004 to 2007. It’s an interesting collection, filled with the last hurrah of d20 Sourcebooks and Cyberpunk 2020 itself. It also has contains an rpg with the most soul-destroying character sheet I’ve yet seen. Check it out, reshare, and maybe support my Patreon!
