We workshopped this over several days, and I’m excited to see this out in the world. I feel these A and P encapsulate how the best Gauntlet game sessions happen, and I’m proud of this episode.

What do you think?

In the newest episode of The Gauntlet Podcast, Lowell Francis and I are joined by Kyle Thompson to discuss the practical considerations of open table campaign play, like we practice in Gauntlet Hangouts; Worlds of Adventure, an unofficial 2e of Dungeon World currently in development; and running a Carcosa hexcrawl.

It’s a pretty fantastic conversation, particularly the open table play discussion, which is something I know a lot of people find puzzling about our community. I have been running campaigns open table for a long time, but Lowell is fairly new to it, so it was interesting to hear his perspectives on the matter.

Thanks to Paul Edson for the sharp edit on this episode.

Enjoy!

The newest episodes of Children of the Eight-Legged She are in the We Hunt the Keepers!

The newest episodes of Children of the Eight-Legged She are in the We Hunt the Keepers! podcast feed. Episode 03 marks the conclusion of the Caspian Gal prelude story and Episode 04 sees our party beginning their trek to the Forest of the Grey Rangers (brownie points if you can guess where I stole that name from). They might have taken a slight detour to engage in some light human trafficking. Fraser Simons says if we’re assigning blame for that, it belongs squarely with Gerrit Reininghaus and Arcon. And yet… no one stopped them.

Don’t forget: the entire series is available in our $2+ Patreon feed! If you need more WHtK! in your life right now, that’s a great place to go.

So I got the chance to play in a really fun game of Seco Creek last night, but one thing happened to me and another player. You know how normally in Google Hangouts the screen will switch back and forth between the loudest speaker? Well it would get stuck one one speaker after about the first hour. Now I know about how to lock and unlock the screen on to one particular member by clicking on their little image to lock and clicking it again to unlock it, and even when unlocked (that is not locked on any particular player) the screen was always stuck on one player the whole rest of the night.

Has anyone both experienced this and found a way to make it work correctly again? I did skim through google to see if there was an answer (very briefly) but all I got was the “just click the outlined member of the chat” which was not helpful in my case.

Stories of U’duasha: Iruvian Hooks for Blades in the Dark

Tonight’s my first online session of Blades in the Dark. We’re playing in Iruvia, a setting detailed in the BitD Special Edition. I’ve created a set of player-facing hooks for the city. They’re (hopefully) cool stories the players can pick from and get tangled up with if they want.

So, we conclude the pirate attack on the shard and the Sol Suna with a good counter attack by the players that came close to harm in a few places but has left them mostly safe for now.

I just wanted to give a big shout out to Jason Cordova for running yet another brilliant Mercy Falls series over the last 2 Saturdays in March.

Camp Mercy Falls was a blast and the game play by Michael X. Heiligenstein and Patrick Knowles turned this 2 episode arc into the best game of mistaken identity and horrible consequences in which I’ve ever played.

Patrick, Michael and I agreed that if Camp Mercy Falls had a subtitle or was a TV Show it would be called A Midsummer Night’s Scream.
