So I got the chance to play in a really fun game of Seco Creek last night, but one thing happened to me and another player. You know how normally in Google Hangouts the screen will switch back and forth between the loudest speaker? Well it would get stuck one one speaker after about the first hour. Now I know about how to lock and unlock the screen on to one particular member by clicking on their little image to lock and clicking it again to unlock it, and even when unlocked (that is not locked on any particular player) the screen was always stuck on one player the whole rest of the night.

Has anyone both experienced this and found a way to make it work correctly again? I did skim through google to see if there was an answer (very briefly) but all I got was the “just click the outlined member of the chat” which was not helpful in my case.

  1. That happenend during the game or when watching the recording? The recording follows the person’s view they were having when playing.

Have you tried to rejoin the Hangout?

Was there possibly some constant noise from the one player which confused the AI doing the automatic screen switching? Could you manually fix somebody else into the focus?

  3. So I was a player and not moderating the call, and it even happened when the player had their mic on mute. It happened during game play while the recording was happening, but I haven’t yet seen the video after the fact (although the same has happened for me during a different game and it got stuck just the same).

It didn’t occur to me to relog, and maybe that’s what I’ll do next time!

I could manually fix someone else into focus, and every time I “unfixed” that person it would default back to the one character and not change again unless I manually set it to do so.

  5. off the technical subject… glad you got to play Seco Creek! I played with Shane Liebling at Dreamation this year, as the deputy to his sheriff. Lots of drama. Excited to see how your story ends up in part 2.

  7. It totally is a fun game. When I was a player, Duval shot the deputy to give the criminals over to the town. It seems that Duval makes a good villian, but i’d like to see what happens with a corrupt Owens.

  9. David Rothfeder our Owens was pretty corrupt. He riled up the crowd at the funeral and led the mob to the jail. Everyone shit talked my deputy behind his back and he eventually broke and pulled a shotgun on the sheriff, buying off two keys in one action. Townspeople loved him, but he was a lousy deputy.

  11. David Rothfeder I think we had a lot of playing against type. Owens wanted to embarrass the mayor so he could win the next election. Marquez felt ignored by Sheriff Walter and that he could have better served the town. Gammon ended up as our moral center, heartbreaking in his determination to find the real killer and deliver justice by his own hand

  13. We all focused our game mechanic energy around buying off our keys, rather than trying to hit them. Owens bought off Civilized and Farsighted, Marquez bought off Duty and Brotherhood

  15. Wow, that would make the game intense. When I was a player I was also a Gammon who was seeking justice by his own hand. It was also his ilegitamat daughter who was killed, so, you know.
