Listening to another podcast – Spellburn for the Dungeon Crawl Classic folks – and guest Edgar Johnson talks briefly about also running Spirit of 77, a PbtA game, and what he sees as the similarity between OSR and Story Gaming play. As far as I recall, the hosts of Spellburn have shown a lot of positivity towards the greater gaming community, and – except for a bunch of pokes at Pathfinder – don’t promote that “us vs them” mentality you get from some more trad sections of the OSR.

I’m not sure if Dungeon Crawl Classics is that familiar to many Gauntleteers. It is sort of like old Basic D&D plus a load of Gonzo and a lot of Appendix N fiction (mostly with an effort to filter out the more problematic parts, but sometimes just hitting them with a club and moving on.)

I just find it nice when the separate tribes of gamers talk nice about each other.

Two months ago I shared the alpha version of a role-playing game I am working on, called BELOW, on Facebook. There was feedback and playtest, and the whole thing went through a huge revision. Its focus on dungeon crawling remains, but the mechanics have changed. A lot.

Even the name changed!

Read it, maybe try it, send me feedback. It’s the only way for the game to improve! THANK YOU!

Anyone out there familiar with Tenra Bansho Zero?

I am fascinated by this statement: “An entire campaign, a story from start to finish, can be told over the space of one to two sessions!” yet the 696 page rulebook intimidates me.

Thanks!

Just listened to the newest podcast and I am interested in several of the games mentioned. I cannot find ATLAS RECKONING on line anywhere. Can anyone with better google-fu point me in the right direction? Is the game in actual release yet?

Thanks!

Reaching out to the Gauntlet collective. I’m a fan of horror, and I picked up the Tremulus RPG to try and run some PbtA horror, and I find myself a bit “meh” about the game. It looks solid enough, but nothing really jumps out and catches my eye.

Is there hidden greatness in Tremulus? Something that sings at the table that I missed in the rule book?

Or should I look elsewhere for PbtA horror (fyi, I’m not looking for monster romance, or monster hunting… I’m looking for “creeping thru graveyards and researching libraries and running from ghosts” horror)

Thanks to listening to the podcast, I just bought a print copy of Robert Bohl’s  Misspent Youth (had the old ashcan, but had to have a print copy!) and asked Bret Gillan the creator of Final Girl for a pdf (which he freely gave). Gauntlet Podcast, I think I love you.
