My copy of Blades in the Dark has arrived and so I had to write up a blog post about cursed knives called The Blades in the Dark.

I’m looking at my schedule and trying to figure out where I can fit a game of Blades in the Dark in my life and I can’t figure out where that space would be.

This episode of Discern Realities reminded me of making up fronts for a DW one-shot.

This episode of Discern Realities reminded me of making up fronts for a DW one-shot. I did it as an exercise, a fun way to play with the rules and see what the world would look like if we continued.

I like how fronts get me to daydream about the setting in a very controlled manner and ask questions that I otherwise might’ve not.

I wonder if either of you have gone back and written out fronts, even though you don’t need them, and if so, did you learn anything or create anything that you otherwise wouldn’t have?

I don’t think I need it either but I like how it forces me to engage with the setting and ask questions about it.

I am fascinated by settings, so any thoughts on gaming in established settings are welcomed.

Was it an episode of The Gauntlet where a host talked about how early D&D didn’t have a thief nor rogue and so sneaking and disarming traps was something all characters did?

Am I imagining that?
