-On Wednesday, we are running Ray Otus’s fantasy hack of Lasers & Feelings, called Sorcerers & Sellswords

-We have tons of Dungeon World on the calendar, beginning with our regular Thursday game, continuing with a weekend-long adventure using James Raggi’s Death Frost Doom, and then moving into a six-week series in which we will be running two tables in A Red & Pleasant Land

-We have one-shots of Jason Morningstar’s Fiasco, Grant Howitt’s Regency Ladies, my hack of Dog Eat Dog that takes place in a pizza fun arcade (I’m calling it Chuck Eat Cheese), The Play’s the Thing, and Hot Guys Making Out

-Doyle Tavener will be running a deluxe session of Call of Cthulhu, using the Delta Green setting.

-Finally, we have a two-session run of Paul Czege’s The Clay That Woke

We had a terrific weekend of gaming! On Thursday, we continued our Dungeon World campaign. Just a few loose ends and one more session  before we head into Death Frost Doom and A Red & Pleasant Land

On Friday, we had a board game night. We played some classics: Reiner Knizia’s Modern Art, Klaus Teuber’s Hoity Toity (Adel Verpflichtet, for you old-timers), and Uwe Rosenberg’s Bohnanza. You know, I used to be into board games the way I am currently into roleplaying games, and it felt good to get back into that spirit for a night.

On Sunday, though, we went back to roleplaying games with a vengeance, playing Brian Engard’s Becoming, a couple of quick ones called Char. Gen. and Agent Down, and then two games of the fabulous Cheat Your Own Adventure.

Play with The Gauntlet long enough, and you’ll eventually run into this fellow (he even showed up on the podcast once). Often he is called Gormakir the Cruel. On Carcosa, he is known as Grzzrkt’taa the Inevitable. No matter what he is called, he’s always up to no good.

This is lovely work by Dirk Detweiler Leichty, part of his new Patreon release, which you should definitely support.

We have a Bonus Episode for this week’s edition of The Gauntlet Podcast. In this one, a number of us discuss our very first roleplaying game experiences. It’s a pretty terrific episode; lots of fun. I had a smile on my face pretty much the whole time I was listening to it.

Every now and then, a game comes out of nowhere (like Cheat Your Own Adventure) and you’re really taken aback by how good it is.Andrew Peregrine’s Dance of the Damned is one such game. It’s kind of a mix of RPG plus competitive card game. It has a lot of fast, back and forth narration that reminds you of, well, a dance. The setting is terrific, too: all the lords and nobles are hiding inside a castle, drinking and fucking themselves stupid, while the poors outside die of the plague. The point of the game is to see if your character will succumb to the darkness and ennui, or will they leave the castle filled with hope about the future.

Lots of fun. Highly recommended. I suspect we’ll talk about it on the podcast episode that lands May 8th.

The first planning session for The Codex of Wondrous Power (or The Encyclopedia Gauntletica, if you will) is on Thursday, May 7th. I’m not making it a Meetup event, since it’s not a game, so if you’re interested in coming, just post in the comments and I’ll get in touch with you privately.
