TGI Thursday
– Epyllion (Session 2 of 3)
Our young dragons reach the island of the celestial fruit but must free two dragons– one from the Darkness and one from their regrets– to make their way home.
The Fellowship takes definitive action against the Overlord’s General in the struggle for a Source of Power. There is a desperate underwater battle, a running fight with the Endless Horde, and awakening an ancient Dragon.
Firey passion turns to disappointment for Harp the Giant. Justice and Caspian are nearly lost to the Spirit River, but Vago and Pumpkin come to the rescue.
– Beyond the Wall: Caverns of Thracia (Session 3 of 4)
Afra, Lylani, Morrain, and Constant Sorrow make peace with reptilian dawn worshippers who’ve taken some of the Death Cultists captive. The teens and their new friends must survive a cultist attack and then figure out what to do with the prisoners while facing big questions about love, death, trust, and family.
The crew goes to Nashville while navigating their way through a post-collapse mega-highway, mercenary cowboys, and militant citizens who hate punks; all with the help from Skye: a rockerboy and new addition to the crew.

Last week I ran Hearts of Wulin four times for Games on Demand Origins. It was a good show I actually introduced myself to people this time and got to talk to Sarah Richardson, Morgan Ellis, Mike Olson, and James Mendez Hodes among others. As for Hearts of Wulin I came away from each session happy and spotted new ways players could engage the moves and options. My post talks about what I did, what I saw, and a new, sixth playbook, The Unorthodox.

Hey folks, I keep seeing threads with people being excited to find “good quality” Cyberpunk2020 core books on Amazon—it’s available in print… just order a new copy from http://www.talsorianstore.com
Core book is $30 + shipping and they have some source books (and the cybergeneration line).
I saw people buying them for $300, ridiculous! If you’re abroad the core is POD on DrivethruRPG but… I’m not sure how great it would come out if it’s using the scanned pages like the PDF file.
They’re also releasing Cyberpunk Red, an updated core book in October of this year. No idea what that _means_ just yet; is it art, rules, etc. Who knows.
I am pleased to present the newest episode of The Gauntlet Podcast.
I am pleased to present the newest episode of The Gauntlet Podcast. In this one, Lowell Francis interviews Sean Nittner about Big Bad Con, his experience in tabeltop publishing, and more! This is a really stellar episode; Sean is a very engaging guest.
Check it out!
Also: Big Bad Con is on Kickstarter for 9 more days. Here is a link:
It’s that time of the year again! Gauntlet Con is just around the corner and we can’t wait to spend four days (that’s right, four!) gaming and hanging out with you!
Gauntlet Con is Oct 18 – 21st and we have games starting every coupe hours to make sure everyone can pay no matter what time zone they’re in!
But to do that, we need GMs to run games! If you’d like to volunteer to run a game or two this year, please check out this awesome link! Thank you and I can’t wait to see you at the con!
Dungeon World with kids… what’s everyone’s experience with it?
I’ve run some far-too-seldom sessions with my daughters (12 and 15 now, but going back to when they were 12 and 9) and their friends.
One thing I’ve noticed is that for character and world-building, they’re FANTASTIC. They love coming up with details for all of that.
For the gaming itself, though they’re creative and love the story-telling aspect, it seems they need to be held “on the rail” more than I would ever dream about with experienced players. The story needs exact goals, and the flexibility that DW adds may be a bit too much — at least right off. (I need to get them into more constant play, but getting a group of teens together consistently is challenging, to say the least)
Does anyone have any experience, advice with this? I’d be interested to hear what you did and how it went. I think that DW is an amazing game, but with some special challenges when it comes to people who need to be “directed more” (ie, “kids”)
