I saw that some folks here have played The Sky-blind Spire (a wonderfully odd map and adventure by +Michael Prescott), and was wondering if I could check on a couple details before I (hopefully) run it myself with Into the Odd next weekend….

SPOILERS follow!

So … I hope someone can tell me….

(A) Am I correct in understanding that to get to room 22, you have to climb out the window from 21 and climb down a floor to the window below? And to get to 23, same deal, out the window and down a floor?

(B) Since you have to go up the changeling cone to keep your spark, is anybody who keeps their spark necessarily shrunk by 50% for the rest of the adventure?

(C) Do you suspect this is playable in a 4-hour one shot?

Any other tips are welcome too – thanks!

Going on an 7-night Alaska cruise/family reunion with my 6 brothers. Optimistically, we’ll have a couple of hours per day of gaming + 1 8-hour session while at sea. Any recommendation for game/games?

HEARTS OF WULIN: PLAYBOOKS

Here are the five playbooks we’ve used for our run-through of Hearts of Wulin. They’re pretty good for a first attempt. We have five options- Aware, Bravo, Loyal, Outsider, and Student. Each has three distinct variations with a unique move. The post has links to the other entries as well as the AP videos. Let me know what you think.

I’ve run two sessions so far of my wuxia PbtA hack, Hearts of Wulin. It’s a project in progress, but I’m digging the play we’ve had. In my post I go over the basics of the system, next time I’ll go over the playbooks. Take a look and check out the session videos if that’s your jam.

In this post I look at the actual setting, premise, and background for our sessions of this Masks hack. I talk about other ways you could go with this premise. Last time I covered the mechanics we used. This post also considers what worked and didn’t work for the hack, and what changes need to be made before I run it again. I think between these two posts you probably have enough to run from.

Was nice to play with these nice people for the first time (and Andrew S. again)!! :)

He is in a gang of one – a gang with just him in it. He is the President and the Vice President and everything. My character from Michael G. Barford’s Shadowrun game with The Gauntlet. I played alongside Andrew Shields wise and grizzled Street Samurai – Sharper. @Arthur Eames’ cool and collected Rigger – Synchro. And @Aaron Berger’s mysterious orkish Street Shaman/Hacker. It was fun!

Just got my Sig kickstarter this week – woot! Actually started with Circles of Power. Reading through it now and it’s intriguing. PbtA meets Misdirected Youth meets D and D (sort of).

It’s a game about Wizards in a world that hates them. Not because of their ability to wield magic, but because of their very identity. All PCs are part of a disenfranchised Circle – the Foreign, the Native, the burdened, or the Forsaken.

Eventually I assume the players Stand Up – it’s one of the moves. But haven’t gotten there yet.
