Age of Ravens: 21 Seas & Lazy Hacking
Today on the Gauntlet Blog I talk a little about 7th Sea: what I dig, what doesn’t work for me, and some thoughts on lazy, lazy hacking to get a version I’d actually be decent at running.

In the heart of the imperial city tensions flare between a princess, her betrothed and the man she loves. Meanwhile, a dying man asks his only friend for help, all the while a spymaster watches on like a spider in the middle of her web. Elsewhere a daughter requests a stepmothers aid but does her young stepmother intend to help or harm the young royal.
The perfect unity of the land falls apart and our actors move, like agents of change, like a Monkey in the Scarlet Court.

We did a Microscope session to craft a high fantasy urban landscape (which we may return to later). Recent releases inspired me: Almbrecht After Dark, Spire, Streets of Avalon, and Umberwell. I’ve posted about it at the @GauntletRPG blog

We had our second session of Cryptomancer on Sunday. It was absolutely my jam: info gathering, plotting, problem solving, new complications. Really fun. This particular scenario’s what I call a Conspiracy Sandbox. I wrote up a post explaining what that means: https://www.gauntlet-rpg.com/blog/age-of-ravens-conspiracy-sandbox

We are teaming up with Samjoko to give away multiple copies of Uncanny Echo. We’re starting with a b&w softcover, which we are raffling off on Saturday night. You can get multiple entries into the raffle by going to the below link and following the instructions there (basically, you have to follow The Gauntlet and Samjoko on social media). Hey folks!
Hey folks!
Yesterday we got a shipment of Sundown demo copies!
They’re for demonstrators and retailers, but it looks like we might have 5 or 6 left over.
So, if any of you would be interested in demonstrating Sundown, including just running the game for your friends, let me know, and I can send you one!
(you can pick up the pdf on itch PWYW to see what we’re about! https://grasswatch-games.itch.io/sundown)

Today on The Gauntlet Blog, I have the third entry of my Design Diary series about my in-development game The Between. In this entry, I talk about the development of the Overscene, one of the most distinctive (and novel) elements of my game.

Anybody have any experience with Vincent Baker’s beta of “Freebooting Venus”?
Anybody have any experience with Vincent Baker’s beta of “Freebooting Venus”? My group is three sessions in. The first session using the first set of rules, the second and third using the revised rules. The game is very unfinished, but we are having a really good time with it. The thing is, I can’t figure out exactly why. Anybody have any thoughts or experiences with it they would like to share and discuss? I love the treasure mechanic, I like the unpredictable magic effects, I enjoy the estate building. Haven’t gotten into the mercantile stuff, but that looks interesting.
