Looking for suggestions for a home brew/world building tool to use with Blades in the Dark in under one hour? Thinking something more fantasy adjacent than the original setting.

  1. Might I suggest the Haven creation rules from the indie story game Downfall. It does a good job of creating an evocative and flawed place including the establishment of traditions and principles

  3. Going to try Downfall. Let you know how it goes. One thing I’m still thinking about is how to handle the development o factions. Was thinking of running through the Hero/Villain/Pillar section to flesh a few out. Start light and then have others come up in play as needed.

Don’t have a copy of SCUP yet. Was hoping to get one for the holidays but looks like I’ll have to shell out for a copy myself.

  5. I might suggest that you turn each tradition into an opportunity to attach a faction to them!

Part of the process is attaching an emblem to each tradition. Imagine if each emblem is associated with a faction from the city in which your game takes place!

  7. Nice. I was thinking of a separate phase so the traditions could be more universal. But having them associated with a specific tradition would be a cool connection too. Would also save time. Trying to run during our lunch hour
