Age of Ravens: History of Licensed RPGs (Part II 1984-85)

This post looks at couple of early gaming years and the dozen new licensed properties which emerged. Most of these had solid support from their company, but many burned out within a year or two. For example FASA’s Dr Who rpg had a huge number of supplemental products but was dumped two years later.

If you are interested in become a Pateron of gauntlet so that you can get a heads up In doing online gaming how does one go about doing that?

Does that give me a better chance of getting into a DW game online? They always seem full for the time slots I have available.

My real goal is to run one, it I understand the need to get some play time to build up trust.

What sort of gear do I need for online gaming? Besides a computer and internet connection. An old grognard here, I haven’t done any on,one gaming before, but think it might work better than random group of strangers in game store.

Right now I am mostly interested in DW. But I also like me some Polaris.

Peace, and apologies in advance for dumb questions.

Today on the Cosmic Mirror Core Rulebook Kickstarter, I share a bunch of the art coming in, an interview with Getting Geeky with Gamerleaf, and some information on the Vrykolakas, the vampires of our Urban Fantasy setting!

The Cosmic Mirror Core Rulebook is the core rules for a future campaign, where we will be bringing out a new full world setting each year, along with new player options, races, items, powers, and more, all compatible with one another and able to coexist in a super core setting, the world of Confluence.

In this book, you have access to base rules for Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, and Sci Fi games, including a look into three of the future worlds, more than 6 of their races, and all the items you might want.

If you pledge today, you’re put in the running for an extra free hard copy of the book when the campaign ends! Help us reach our goal today.

Together we’re crowdsourcing the miscellany for Codex – Joy 2. This miscellany is called “Three Dozen Local Holidays and Celebrations.” Submissions need to be a single sentence, or 2-3 short sentences. By submitting here, you’re agreeing to let us use it (you’ll get a credit on the issue). We’re looking for evocative things; the purpose of the miscellany is to inspire the reader.

Here are some examples:

“Every year, folk hero Faina the False’s clever victory over the Hollow King’s army is commemorated with carved gourd soldiers and a fiercely competitive contest of tall tales. Expect no one participating in the festivities to speak a word of truth.”

“The last brief daylight before the dark winter months at Terminus Base used to be observed somberly, but it’s morphed into a day-long party with round-the-clock simulated daylight hiding the final sunset, generous alcohol rations, and no shortage of bad decisions.”

“The Velaris Belt is mostly uninhabited, but every third year it comes alive as the site of the former Kallix Company’s reunion. They gather in a swarm of mismatched ships to swap stories, revel in each other’s presence, and salute the ones who couldn’t return.”

P.S. If you want to be credited by something other than your G+ name, let me know!

Codex Vol. 1 Kickstarter – Final Stretch Goals and Pledge Rewards Announced!

We are heading into the final stretch of our KS campaign! Today’s update revealed all the remaining stretch goals and pledge rewards. There are some awesome things to look forward to. Read the update (linked below) for all the details, but here is a glimpse:

Digital Stretch Goal #5: Catherine Ramen’s “Kingsport”

If we hit $23,000, Cat will write her Lovecraft-tinged Kingsport setting for Monsterhearts 2. It will feature Kingsport ’52 (think Red Scare, paranoia type stuff) and guidelines for exploring Kingsport through different time periods (such as Kingsport ’76, Kingsport 1692, and more!).

Digital Stretch Goal #6: Fraser Simons‘s “Snow Falling on Chrome”

If we hit $25,000, Fraser will write a campaign starter inspired by Blade Runner for his popular Powered by the Apocalypse cyberpunk game, The Veil!

Digital Stretch Goal #7: Lauren McManamon and I’s The Mercy Falls Campaign

This is the big one. If we hit $30,000, Lauren and I will write a full campaign setting for Mercy Falls, WA, location of our popular actual plays on Pocket-Sized Play. It will include system-agnostic details (maps, locations, NPCs) plus guidelines for using different games (MH2, The Final Girl, Cthulhu Dark, and more) to explore aspects of the town’s history and culture. Essentially, you’ll be able to create your own version of Mercy Falls.

We also have awesome new game runner pledge rewards from Tom McGrenery and Tyler Lominack. You can play WFRP 1e with Tom or Monster of the Week with Tyler.

Check it out and please re-share!

My name’s Liam, but feel free to call me Comeau! I’m an autistic Canadian game designer and actual player based in Edmonton, who hopes (even in spite of G+ closing down soon) to share; provoke, and take away some real interesting thought from this lovely dialogic community!

It’s not much, currently, but here’s the majority of what I’ve been putting on the back-burner at the moment! If any of it interests you, feel free to yell at me about it or whatever! Of note is my moderately-assembled PbTA game based off Suda51’s No More Heroes, ASSASSIN WORLD.

Hello Fellow Gauntleteers!

Hello Fellow Gauntleteers!

Hello Fellow Gauntleteers!

I am looking to get two roll20 based games together for an upcoming Childs Play stream on 11/17/18. I will be streaming a mix of table top things in person, board game video games, and the two roll20 games. I’m thinking Lady Blackbird for one and maybe a paired down OSR-ish module run in Dungeon world for the other. The roll20 games would ideally run between 2-4 hours each, depending on player preference. I figured before I went trawling through the roll20 forums I would come to my favorite rpg community and see if any of you were interested.
