So, I started listening to the podcasts (really dig them, btw), which brought me to the G+ community, which got me back into wanting to game – or rather, seeing gaming as something that I might be able to fit into my life again. I joined a pbp. Yay! But I’d like to try one of meetups/hangouts.

I’m not a super social media person or particularly tech savvy – how does one go about getting into a game, and then how do you do the hangouts thing?

By the former, I mean that it always seems like things are booked on Meetup by the time I find out that they are happening. Can I approach this better?

By the latter, I mean literally. I used my computer as a word processor, a place to put my music and gaming .pdfs, to check my work email, and to watch Netflix or play very old games from Steam. I’ve no clue how to actually Hangout via video…. I thought Hangouts was like AIM but for Gmail. Is it easier than I’m making it on my head?

FWIW, Jason Cordova, I am relatively comfortable running games and wouldn’t mind doing so once I feel a little more grounded with playing online and playing story games in general.

As a first post from a new member on the heels of a night where I played (gm’d, actually) my first experience with a PbtA/story game (Uncharted Worlds), quite enjoyed the story and the very different feel of collaborative story telling, but more to the point did so while my wife stayed home with the baby and did not bat an eye at my later than usual return home…

Happy Mother’s Day to those Gauntleteers who are moms.
