Just wanted to share that I’m making compendium classes that are basically race compendiums for Dungeon World at the moment and I am thoroughly enjoying myself lol

Current compendium – The Satyr

I asked this question on the tavern, but I didn’t get the answers I was looking for.

What’s the most gruesome/tragic/heroic Last Breath failure you’ve seen in your games?

Not looking for deals with death, I mean 6- results.

I wanted to share a cool move I just came up with over on the Tavern!

Run Away!

When your party decides to retreat, determine who is the leader. When the leader uses their talents to help everyone escape, they describe how they do it and roll+STAT. On a 10+ you get everyone clear of danger, no worse for wear. On a 7-9 choose two:

– You escape without further injury

– Your party does not get separated

– You don’t leave anything valuable behind

Take a -1 to your roll for each member of your party who is over their max load or who currently has an injury or debility that would hinder your retreat.

With this move, you could have the fighter lead the way to escape a goblin war band that is raining arrows on the party. He could Run Away with his STR to lift a large chunk of the broken wagon and use it to shield the party from the arrows. If he gets a 7-9, he could choose to not separate the party, since they are all under the chunk of wagon, and not leave anything valuable behind since he is good aligned and doesn’t want the princess they were escorting to get left. The GM could say he suffered the Weak debility afterwards from straining his back (He didn’t choose to escape without further injury).

The Wizard could RA with INT to know just where on the tree to fire his magic missiles in order for it to topple and form a bridge across the canyon so they can escape the Hydra, who will be too large to cross without it collapsing. She might choose to escape without further injury and not to leave anything valuable behind (she doesn’t want to lose that arcane artifact she found in the Hydra’s lair). The GM could then say that one or more of the party members end up getting caught out on the log when the Hydra tries to shamble across, causing the tree to split and the Hydra and unfortunate party members go plummeting into the river below.

A really cool scene could happen if you are the leader. You could ask the GM to have you be the one left behind if things go south, like Gandalf in the Mines of Moria. Noble sacrifice and progressing the story in one go!

Just in case not everyone frequents the Dungeon World Tavern, I posted a poll over there asking if my upcoming Arcane and Divine spell compendiums should have any spells that cross over into one another (like how Wizards and Clerics both have Light, for example). If you are interested in influencing how they are set up, go vote!

I wanted to share a setting/creature for you guys that I had in my last campaign, but that didn’t really see any use since my players are METICULOUS about finding ways around dangers lol. Anyways, here it is!

The Grand Aviary

Within the walls of the Silver Citadel lies a magnificent room, filled with lush foliage and beautiful flowers. Small waterfalls and pools accent the natural wonder of the place, though they serve little purpose for its residents. For within the Grand Aviary the precious pets of the Citadel’s master roam free. These mechanical wonders resemble living peacocks in shape and size, but they were crafted using mithril and plated with gold and gemstones. Their tails are usually kept low, but can raise into a dazzling display if needed. The gems on their tails have some enchantment on them that causes onlookers to become mesmerized, giving the construct the chance to finish them with wicked talons or with a quick flourish of their razor sharp tail feathers. An additional danger lies in the tail feathers, for they were designed for use at range as well. The tips detach into some mad man’s version of a razor sharp hook attached to a long wire. These allow the mechanical monsters to capture fleeing victims or, if the poor soul is lucky, kill them outright. Only the master and any servants wearing a special magical collar may pass through the Aviary without fear of becoming some soulless automaton’s quarry.

Mithril Peacock

Small, construct, group, organized, intelligent, cautious

(b[2d8]+2 damage, +3 piercing); 10HP; 4 armor

Instinct: To destroy those who are not permitted

Special Qualities: Mithril body, grappling feathers

• Attack without warning

• Eviscerate them

• Catch them with hooks and reel them in

• Dazzle them with a flash of gemstones

Hello everyone!

Hello everyone!

Hello everyone!

I made a new design for Dungeon World playbooks that I wanted to share. I initially made them to use for my custom playbooks I am currently working on. However, I decided I wanted to also set up the normal playbooks in my format after my players told me how much they liked them. I added a few things for ease of use and you may notice a blank space near the damage section. That is for any playbooks I make that use a special resource. I decided to keep the space in order for the playbooks to be uniform. Let me know what you all think of the Barbarian in my new format!

Also, I may offer to convert other peoples’ playbooks into this format in the future if they have no means of doing so or they just like the format. I am not sure on the specifics of doing that yet, but I do have a few options rolling around in my brain.

Saturday night I had a Channeler in my game (my wife) use Summon Elemental. When it got loose it started attacking willy-nilly. She finally had the idea to use Bender of the Elements to make the elemental move out a window, after which it flew off on its own. My main question is, has anyone else used Bender of the Elements to “control” an elemental that has gotten out of control? It seemed to be reasonable through the wording, but I wanted other peoples’ opinions on the matter.
