Fear of a Black Dragon – Into the Fire raw recording

This is the YouTube video from our latest recording of Fear of a Black Dragon. I’m making it public for a couple reasons: 1) it’s a really solid episode, pretty funny at times, and with lots of interesting advice (Cc: Chris Shorb, from his earlier thread); 2) It is sometimes nice to be reminded what the podcast hosts look like and to get a sense of our creative process, because making a podcast is an intensely creative process.

In this video, you’re just seeing the middle part, where we actually sit down and record, but there is an extensive (and time-consuming) preparation part that we engage in on FoaBD. We have to read and/or run the module, we have to brainstorm the topics we want to engage with, and then we have to write down the scripted bits. This video lets you see how Tom McGrenery and I work together, how we incorporate all that pre-recording planning into the episode, and, by its absence, the work Paul Edson does in production to shape it all up.

It’s a fun watch! Check it out!

  1. What’s the clapping about? Is that to allow Paul to measure the return delay, so that he can cut it out throughout the podcast? If so, that’s a lot of work!

  3. More of an audio guy so I can split attention (podcasts are the best for washing dishes, folding laundry, and working out); but I look forward to watching this one. Thanks!
