Kyle Thompson Sometimes I think the Buddhists who created Sun Wukong must have had a strong preference for Taoism over Confucianism. Notice how Sun Wukong is powerful in his role as the classic Confucian “head of state” as king of the monkeys/animals. Then he becomes a Taoist and levels up in a huge way!
