Have any Gauntleteers played any of the games out of the Seven Wonders anthology? I ran across it at my FLGS today, and it looks interesting, but I can’t find much in the way of actual play or reviews online. Being hardcover, it was a bit out of my impulse buy price range, and I didn’t have time to give it much of a skim.

  1. Jason Cordova Downfall does a better job I think…. I’ve played the Black hole one whose name escapes me. It was good but the rules needed some tightening I’d say.

  3. Hmmm. It would really interesting to hear a Gauntlet episode(s) where each game eas broken down and annalyzed.

I’m really interested in hearing how the rules inform play, specifically what mechanics make the play align to what seems to be the designers intent in regards to tone, theme, and rhythm. And then what mechanics detract from that intent.

Of course would be interested in the subjective opinions too.

And Aniket Schneider what store was it?

  5. Hmm, Rise & Fall looked attractive to me, but I already have Downfall burning a hole on my shelf. Before the Storm also looked kinda neat. The others look interesting from a kind of academic perspective, but are not concepts I feel like I could sell a group of players on very easily. Maybe I’ll pick up the pdf though.

Chris Shorb It was Pandemonium Books and Games, in Cambridge, MA. They have a reasonably well-stocked indie RPG bookshelf, though Seven Wonders is I think a bit on the esoteric side for them.

  7. Apologies for the thread necromancy – I’ve played ‘Heroes of the Hearth’ (in playtest) – but let me take a proper look and maybe I can run it, if my fellow Gauntleteers are interested?
