  1. Also, listeners should give a big ‘Thank-you’ to Richard Rogers for this episode. We almost lost the whole thing due to a technical snafu, but he spent hours painstakingly putting it back together. There is a bit of audio wonkiness here and there, but the end product is nonetheless quite impressive, considering we almost had no episode at all.

  3. Thanks so much, crew (and Rich especially)! I appreciate the plug.

I’m glad you did mention the roll difficulty because this is something I went back and forth a lot while developing it. I even went over it a few times with a mathematician friend (which resulted in the optional dice house rule). I wound up going for the 1d6 because I wrote the game to appeal to maybe non-RPGers (people who enjoy the fiction, especially once the novel drops), who may not readily have polyhedrals. Sounds like you got a little lucky as well, as we had some epic failures during testing.

And, yes, it is meant to be humorous. I was sad to miss the game, but I’m happy you had a good time!

  5. Late to the party but I’m listening to the bit about Monsterhearts skins and players wanting to use their monstrous options. Not 100% sure how this related but the first few times I came across Monsterhearts play reports I wasn’t really sure whether the monsters were literally (fictionally) monsters, or whether the playbooks were kind of metaphors for what brand of fucked up this character is.

It works better for some skins than others, I imagine. The Ghoul’s hunger for flesh can be interpreted in a number of ways, as can the werewolf’s outbursts, but the witch is a bit harder to pull off.

In my mind it’s still a really appealing way to play but I’m terrible that way.
