Series IV – Chapter XII

Series IV – Chapter XII

Hey all!

I have finished the arc of the toadmen! I am excessively happy about how my players played this… like… they made this sing better than I could ever hope. If you’re interested in DW AP’s I think we are slowly building into that niche. Love you all and the Gauntlet for what it has thought me. ❤️😍

The Chimaeracast is going to do a little discussion/debrief episode recording tonight to talk about how our actual play podcast is going and what we hope to do in the future. Since we’ve already recorded the end out my arc and now each of the 4 members has run a series, we wanted to have an episode to reflect. This is more than anything me reaching out to see if any of you fine folk who might happen to listen to our podcast or just have a vast wealth of AP podcast knowledge have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. By all means, this post might just fly under the radar, but I wanted to put something out there just in cast because I love this community’s great feedback and well articulated thoughts every time I open the G+.

I hope you are having a wonderful day!

Z

Also, the episode is going to be called “The Dragon’s Den” which I really enjoy 🙂

Happy Saturday Ya’ll

Happy Saturday Ya’ll,

If a fit of shameless self-promotion and general bubbly pride at my player’s for a campaign I am running for my podcast, I wanted to share an episode with you. With the joke aside, in the Slack there was a conversation about character death. A lot of things were swirling around, but one of my main thoughts when it comes to the death of a character is to give the player space, let them take over for a bit if the scene allows, and (something I’m still trying to employ) let that character’s actions and personality resonate through the rest of the campaign. In this episode (SPOILERS*)

someone dies.

I won’t tell you who, but it comes as a surprise and we are not very deep into the campaign so far. Things just started to steamroll and some big fails lead to some tough consequences. I just wanted to put this out here as my contribution to the ongoing conversation about how we treat character death at the table.

If you have thoughts, please feel free!

Cheers!

Z

The Chimaera (a podcast I’m a part of with another Gauntlet member JD) just put out our one-shot for Cartel. I just wanted to make a post here to encourage people to check out that game! It is an absolute blast to play and I hope to engage with it when it is completely done. If you want to check out the quickstart and such, here is a link to a pay-what-you-want type of situation:

Hello humans!

Hello humans!

Hello humans!

I’ve got a line of inquiry that requires some really creative minds like yours. I’m gonna run a game of DW here in the next week for the podcast and a friend wants to play a Druid. I’ve been thinking about the moves for the Shapeshifter and how to make them engaging instead of something like extra damage or piercing because they have teeth or something. In short: what created moves for the shapeshifter have been evocative for you?

Thanks team!

Hi all! (big wave)

I want to throw this out here for any of you that might want another Dungeon World podcast:

https://www.thechimaera.com/chimaeracast/

(it should also be an most podcast apps, let me know if we are missing any)

A few buddies and myself started doing this a few months ago and we just wrapped up our second series in the podcast which I am pretty proud of. We tend to go for more serious gameplay moments with the jokes being outside the fiction. While the original episode zero (where we give the gauntlet all the props) has been taken down because of sound quality and let’s be honest inexperience, it was my first time running DW for people. I would throw a shout out to Jason Cordova and the whole gauntlet crew for influencing how we decided to run our podcast. The world is continuous, but stories are broken up into smaller runs with new characters and a new DM for every series. If that sounds like your kind of thing, please do! If not, that is okay! Soon, we are also going to have an open resource for magic items on the website for any new DM’s! we have just been slacking! Some will come soon! I swear!

Thanks a lot for all that you folks do as a community. I’m happy to be a part of it!

Z

ps. if any of you are in Iowa HMU! We run a ton of stuff locally and would love to have you come in!

Quick (ish) question:

Quick (ish) question:

Quick (ish) question:

I’ve been reading over Apocalypse World (i’m running it for the first time and having a blast!) and I can’t find anywhere where the book specifies something that came up in our first session. Can special (sex) moves be used on NPC’s or is that just for PC’s?

Thanks for all of your help!

Hey all!

Hey all!

Hey all!

Happy eating food and sleeping and watching soccer day! I had a question for the group at large: my group is going to do an all wizard production of chicago (campaign, sorry it is a joke we feel the need to make), I am playing a Necro, one friend is playing a Tower Mage, and our last buddy wants to play a wizard that has a kind of focus on illusory magic. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or thoughts about the illusory magic user, this one had some of our eyes so any thoughts on if you found the playbook to be interesting would be great as well!

Am I insane or is the Preist the coolest class in Dungeon World?

Am I insane or is the Preist the coolest class in Dungeon World? I’m just running it down and really loving it, down to every advance feeling crucial and interesting… I’m starting a level 1 tonight in my buddy’s campaign and I am beyond stoked. What do you folks think of the priest?
