I’m looking for 4-5 players for a Play-by-Post game of Masks: The New Generation, a Powered by the Apocalypse game about a team of young superheroes. I’d like to play it straight out of the box: Core playbooks and the default Halcyon City setting, which we would fill out together in play.

Logistically, we’ll keep scenes, worldbuilding, and character sheets in a shared Google Docs folder. We’ll use a chat channel like Discord, Slack, or Hangouts for table talk and rolls. I’d like players to be able to make roughly a post a day, but it doesn’t have to be long: a couple hundred words is plenty.

It’s cool if you are new to Masks, to PbtA games, or to Play by Post. I’m happy to help you figure things out.

Tone-wise, in addition to the usual examples (Young Justice, Runaways, Teen Titans), I’d be aiming for touchstones like early Buffy and Veronica Mars: finding the emotional resonance in genre-typical adventures, using a light tone to go straight for the heart.

If you’re interested, or if you have any questions, let me know in the comments.

To me, cyberpunk asks questions about how to carve out independence in the face of all-consuming systems. About preserving humanity and community against the grain of homogenizing technology. About the street finding its own uses for things, and the undistributed future. About what happens when we realize that we’ve caught a ride on the tiger of algorithmic cruelty and now we can’t let go.

Oh, and robot arms and neon signs in the rain and autorappelling out of 40th story arcology windows with a vibrosword in one hand and a hard drive full of paydata in the other.

As a system, The Sprawl delivers all of that. I also especially like the way it explicitly makes violence necessary but insufficient. I think it will work well as a PBP game because of the mission-based structure, and the way players can operate independently or in small groups, both before and during missions.

Logistically, it will be run in a shared Google Docs folder, with a Hangouts chat or Slack channel for table talk. I’d like players to be able to read/post once or twice a day so we can keep momentum going, but posts don’t have to be long– a couple hundred words, tops. You don’t have to own the game– I’ll share the playbooks.

I’d like to have about 4 PCs. If you’re interested, let me know in the comments.

We’ll explore the power struggles of the wizards, demons, monsters, and the mortals who have to deal with them in modern Baltimore.

I’ll be running the game through Google Docs, with side chatter, table talk, and rolls in text chat in Google Hangouts.

I’d like to have about 4 PCs. I’d like you to be willing to make 1-2 posts a day, but nothing long– a couple hundred words, tops.

If you’re interested, let me know in the comments and I’ll send you invitations to the play document folder and the Hangout group.
