I’ve got three YT video links for you.

The first (below) is Session 3 of our World of Dungeons playthrough of Death Frost Doom (co-written by one of my very favorite RPG designers). This was a great session. If you’re curious to see how I make narrative-focused systems (like WoD and DW) work in a room by room dungeon crawl, this is a great one to watch. Thanks to the players who joined me: Gerrit Reininghaus Jennifer Erixon and Philip Wessels

The second is Session 3 of The Path to Dim Carcosa, part of our We Hunt the Keepers! campaign. This was a very action-packed session; lots of fun, brisk combat and daring maneuvers. It was also really fucking dirty (seriously–this is NSFW for sure). Thanks to David LaFreniere Fraser Simons (who I can’t tag for some reason), Tony Hahn, and Christo Meid

The third is Monster of the Week: The Dream, which is my spin on the classic 80s horror movie, The Stuff. This is one of my absolute favorite scenarios to run, and these guys knocked it out of the park. It’s largely the same group as in the two-part Little Shanghai mystery, in case anyone is interested seeing those characters in action again. Thanks to the players: Christo, Chris Wiegand Michael G. Barford and Kevin Lovecraft

Well, it took less than a day for certain OSR actors to come after us because of Fear of a Black Dragon.

It’s hard being the person who doesn’t give a shit about old grievances, and who just wants to have fun playing and discussing RPGs.

As promised, here is the first episode of Fear of a Black Dragon!

As promised, here is the first episode of Fear of a Black Dragon!

In this one, Tom McGrenery and I take a look at Scenic Dunnsmouth by Zzarchov Kowolski. The format of this new show is as follows:

The Basic Crawl

We give a brief overview of the module or setting book to be discussed, talk about what we loved, address questions we had about the module, and do the Chain Lightning Round.

The Expert Delve

This is the heart of FoaBD, where we look at the module from a different perspective. Sometimes we’ll talk about ways of re-skinning it, sometimes we’ll discuss it in the context of different rule systems. Overall, it’s a pretty wide open segment that will be driven largely by whatever inspires us from the text.

Companion Adventures

These are recommendations from other media we believe help capture the feeling or tone of the book being discussed.

Thanks so much to our Patreon supporters for putting us over the top and unleashing FoaBD into the world!

Artist Recommendations Needed (Always)

I have two pieces in Codex – Joy for which I need illustrations. These are paid gigs.

-The first would be an image of an immature dragon having a conversation with a mature dragon. The style would be whimsical.

-The second would be a trio of figures inspired by the Japanese band BABYMETAL. It’s for an Apocalypse World playbook, so the style would be somewhat grungy/realistic.

If you have any recommendations (including yourself), please put a note here or send me an email at gauntletpodcast@gmail.com.

Thanks!

I am very pleased to announce episode 109 of The Gauntlet Podcast is here!

I am very pleased to announce episode 109 of The Gauntlet Podcast is here! In this one, Kate Bullock and I are joined by Michelle Lyons-McFarland to discuss ways for successfully facilitating horror RPGs. It’s a topic all three of us are really invested in, and we manage to cover a lot of ground in an hour. All in all, just a great conversation.

Also: if you have not filled out our Feedback Form for Gauntlet Con, please do so at the link below. If you’re interested in volunteering to run a game, there is a form for that as well.
