I was recently a guest on the German-language 3w6 podcast. The interview is in English and it’s pretty fantastic. The hosts asked really deep, interesting questions, and I think this is the best I have ever been on a mic. I promise you’ll enjoy it. Check it out!

Hiiii alll!

Hiiii alll!

Hiiii alll! We’re also very pleased to have the wonderful Kira Magrann and Jenn Martin as guests at Gauntlet Con 2018!

Jenn Martin is mostly harmless. She’s currently working on Autumn of the Ancients, a hack of Fall of Magic- IN SPACE- as well as MPDGA, a LARP about a bullsh*t trope. She also co-wrote the 2017 Golden Cobra award winner for Game that gives us the most Hope (One Year). By day, a cog in the capitalist machine. By night a game designer, writer, editor, geek parent, crafter and part fae (allegedly).

During Gauntlet Con, Jenn will be running Autumn of the Ancients.

Kira is a ttrpg game designer + queer cyborg + snake mom living in Columbus, Ohio. She currently has a Patreon where she designs experimental games and a Youtube channel where she talks about game design. With the support of her patrons she recently released a game about Lesbisnakes in wintertime titled A Cozy Den.

During Gauntlet Con, Kira will be running SYNC.

Hello!

Hello!

Hello!

This is my first time posting to this community, so my sincere apologies if I break some rules about what is allowed to be posted.

I recently created a magic item that I am very pleased with fictionally, but a little worried about mechanically. Before I introduce it to my players, I wanted to ask for some feedback.

The magic item is called The Golden Sword of King Brighthand. Link to the item info here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10_T8fTpnX3Z57KBtVde5nupD8zAy8Eq67mOofvpRw0A/edit?usp=sharing

The idea is to have this sword offer a huge mechanical benefit to the party in combat, but over time it will beggar them and they’ll have to get rid of it. Hopefully this will lead to some really fun fiction. But as I said, I am worried that this isn’t going to work the way I want. I want the sword to be very powerful, possibly even game-breaking. But I don’t want them to be able to keep it for any length of time without it causing serious problems.

Looking for any thoughts and feedback you have to offer. Thanks!

Codex Volume One Kickstarter Launches October 2nd!

I am very excited to announce The Gauntlet will be launching its first Kickstarter campaign on October 2nd! The campaign will be to fund a hardcover collection of the first thirteen issues of the Codex RPG zine!

There are three things you need to know right now:

1) To celebrate the pending launch of the campaign, we are doing daily Twitter drawings to win the entire Volume One PDF Collection (!!!). We’ll be doing a drawing every night starting tonight until the campaign launches. To be entered into each drawing, simply follow us on Twitter @GauntletRPG

2) We have put together a special blog post highlighting each issue contained in Codex Volume One. Go there to check out all the different things that will be included in this hardcover and to get a glimpse at the history and development of the zine: http://www.gauntlet-rpg.com/blog/codex-volume-1

3) When the campaign launches, there will be a limited number of books available for a deep discount. These discounted books will not include the PDF Collection (for long-time Patrons who already have the PDFs or for folks who simply don’t need them). To guarantee you get one of these discounted books, keep your eyes open for the launch of the campaign!

We’re super-excited to be able to bring this campaign to you. Codex is a stunning product that deserves to exist in a physical form. This has been a long time coming–many, many hours of hard work–but it’s almost here and it feels great!

Once again, the campaign launches October 2nd!

Please re-share!

Today is not an entirely pleasant day on The Gauntlet Blog.

Today is not an entirely pleasant day on The Gauntlet Blog.

Today is not an entirely pleasant day on The Gauntlet Blog. Ross Cowman and I have been having a dispute about something that was recently published in Codex. It’s a very fraught and complicated set of circumstances. I was doing my best to keep it all private, but he decided to start litigating the situation publicly, and so after a lot of thought, I determined it was important for me to get my side of the story out there.

I know many of you are friends with Ross and fans of his work, and my position in this situation should not in any way affect that relationship. But I have been the subject of whisper campaigns and outright blacklisting for years (since Metatopia is coming up, here is a good place to remind everyone that I am banned from being on panels at Metatopia because of the most specious, trifling-assed reason imaginable). I could sense this was about to turn into another one of those situations, but this time I’m going to stick up for myself.
