It’s my first Gauntlet Hangouts game (Final Girl!) on Saturday. How does it work? My YouTube account can do live streaming but I’m not sure how to join someone else’s event?
I have wanted, craved, opined, and whined to run my very own Baseball RPG for a very long time. I’ve run a few innings of playtest without any meat on the bones, ran a bit of a baseball story on Storium, but never made my own full-realized RPG that had all the bits in it, that made it to the table, that had dice (virtual or otherwise) slung.
Tonight, Paul Edson, Jason Cox, Pat Perkins, and chris norwood played a nine inning romp of a game with me! The Gauntlet City Goblins stomped the hated Pathfinders and took the league championship! I can’t stop using exclamation points!
Among the many highlights of the game, we had
– a failed attempt to steal home (which probably wasn’t a failed attempt to steal home after review, but there’s no instant replay in minor league baseball!)
– a bean ball that broke a PC’s arm and sent him to the hospital
– a brawl at the mound when the Goblins’ pitcher beaned one of the Pathfinders in retaliation
– the star Center-fielder stole a home run
– a huge bottom of the 7th that broke the game wide open
There are things to tweak, some stuff that didn’t work, ideas shared from my amazing players that will make it even better, but as it is, it worked! It was an incredibly satisfying event in my gaming life and I am so very thankful for such a wonderful group of players who are part of a giving and imaginative community of people.
It’s that time of year again Gauntleteers! Drive-Thru is having their halloween sale, and there’s plenty of classics available to scare your wallet empty!

I learned about The Gauntlet through podcast “Discern Realities” and recently started GM’ing a Dungeon World campaign. My group has liked it a lot so far but one of my players, who normally plays a barbarian, missed the rage feature of 3.5e D&D.
After looking around, I didn’t find any DW mechanics readily available so I created the Berserker compendium class. I’ve run it passed the DW reddit and I would like to see that you think.
A few days ago, Gauntlet: Rubber City played Evan Rowland’s Noirlandia.
A few days ago, Gauntlet: Rubber City played Evan Rowland’s Noirlandia. Y’all, this game was fun! We used the system to create a really compelling story about a murder mystery in New Cairo which involved a computer virus that can infect humans.
Setup was enjoyable and the dice mechanics were fun and “game-y.” We all agreed, though, that some more guidance when hitting on a 6 and solving a part of the mystery would have been nice. Still, we had lots of fun and I’m glad I backed this Kickstarter.
Thanks to Alexandra Smith and Ryan Sandy for making it a great time.
My physical-world crew played Millennial Apartment Hunters.
My physical-world crew played Millennial Apartment Hunters. Our first crew was a 39 year old artist(me) and a 22 year-old trust-fund kid with a trendy dog. They met on Craigslist, and had similar needs. They ended up picking a strange collective living experiment with no internal locks and weird crawlspaces between the apartments.
The second game had a mad scientist family. First was Brian, an AI researcher. The second and third were Spousebot 5000, a robot built to care for Brain’s uncanny test tube baby, Sophia They ended up moving into a Frank Lloyd-Wright style house that’s been left alone so long that the shag carpet gained semi-sentience. Its floors were split-level four ways with quarter staircases between each room. The final four floors/rooms were separated by tempered glass, not real walls. How could a mad scientist pass up a house like that?

I just had a great hangouts session with my players after finishing the first “session” of our Apocalypse World Play-by-Post. We talked for more than two hours about the characters, the story and our experience playing. It felt so good to actually talk about it after only writing posts and chatting on Slack for weeks and weeks.
For people who have played or play in a PbP right now, do you schedule catchup video chats? How important is that live conversation to you?
Despite the audio nightmare we had with Roll 20 Inspectres was a lot of fun.
Despite the audio nightmare we had with Roll 20 Inspectres was a lot of fun. The rules really help everyone to contribute and build on each others elements to create a really fun comedic documentary style story. Thanks Donogh McCarthy Isa Willsband Robert Ruthven. Special mention to YG Mitchell for giving the longest incomprehensible robot speech in Roll 20 history before giving up the ghost (see what I did there).
The Sprawl by Hamish Cameron is a pleasure to read.
The Sprawl by Hamish Cameron is a pleasure to read. Like, it’s easy to read. Simple but cool layout, flavour but not so much that the text is opaque, and you never have any doubt about how the game is meant to run.
I think that’s massively underrated in games design. Recently purchased a very successful game, and I just can’t get through the text, which is a shame because I hear it’s fantastic in play.
