Has anyone made a shadowrun/cyberpunk hack of Blades in the Dark? I had a sudden flash of inspiration last night.

The first (below) is Session 3 of our World of Dungeons playthrough of Death Frost Doom (co-written by one of my very favorite RPG designers). This was a great session. If you’re curious to see how I make narrative-focused systems (like WoD and DW) work in a room by room dungeon crawl, this is a great one to watch. Thanks to the players who joined me: Gerrit Reininghaus Jennifer Erixon and Philip Wessels

The second is Session 3 of The Path to Dim Carcosa, part of our We Hunt the Keepers! campaign. This was a very action-packed session; lots of fun, brisk combat and daring maneuvers. It was also really fucking dirty (seriously–this is NSFW for sure). Thanks to David LaFreniere Fraser Simons (who I can’t tag for some reason), Tony Hahn, and Christo Meid

The third is Monster of the Week: The Dream, which is my spin on the classic 80s horror movie, The Stuff. This is one of my absolute favorite scenarios to run, and these guys knocked it out of the park. It’s largely the same group as in the two-part Little Shanghai mystery, in case anyone is interested seeing those characters in action again. Thanks to the players: Christo, Chris Wiegand Michael G. Barford and Kevin Lovecraft

I just had a hugely entertaining afternoon running Dead of Night for Horst Wurst, Tomer Gurantz and Stephen Humphreys: I want to avoid spoilers, but I will say that it ended with at least one character riding off into the sunset with his high school maths teacher on the back of a giant ant.

Big thanks to Jason Cordova et al for organising the Gauntlet Hangouts and enabling me to connect with awesome players.

Darkest Fridays: A Colony of Crinwin (A Stonetop game)

When: 8/4/17, 8/11/17, 8/18/17, and 8/25/17 9:00 PM – 12:00 AM EDT

Where: Google Hangouts

Gorlass staggers back into town muttering, “Crinwin! Nests of ’em. Lots of ’em. A great big one, too!” A small crowd gathers, asking questions and poking fun at him. Few believe him. One of you does, why is that?

Stonetop is Dungeon World hack by Jeremy Strandberg currently in playtest. The setting is a small isolated village of 300 souls living near the edge of the known world, on top of a flat-topped hill with a huge monolith on top of it that is often struck by lightning. It stands at the edge of the Great Wood where the Forest Folk live, which complicates things. Adventures focus on dealing with threats to the village, such as Crinwin, seizing opportunities for the village, or pursuing personal goals. Months or years might pass between adventures, with the fortune and prosperity of the village depending on the projects undertaken and decisions made.

Note: This game will be recorded since it is a playtest, although there are no plans to make it public.

Last week I ran the second of two sessions of Godbound, reskinned with the Scion setting for Gauntlet Hangouts. I’ve also been running GB f2f. I put together my notes on the conversion, thoughts on both systems, and overall assessment in this post. I dig it, but I see some things I need to retool.

re Dungeon World, anyone done a megadungeon like temple of elemental evil, rappan athuk or undermountain?

I dig the random threat generator from Mutant: Year Zero. It’s old tech, but they present it in a useful way. I love generating an incident just before play and running from that. I decided to build something similar for other games. Since I’m running Changeling: The Lost for The Gauntlet Hangouts right now, I started with that.
