G+ Shutting Down – Update #2: MeWe is Probably Garbage
G+ Shutting Down – Update #2: MeWe is Probably Garbage
Folks, we are going to just keep our powder dry for now vis-a-vis the G+ situation. MeWe is looking less and less like an attractive option. I’m not sure I can, in good conscience, recommend people start heading over there given it seems to be just stuffed with Nazis and their CEO is a free speech absolutist (translation: you can say whatever racist, Nazi shit you want and we won’t bat an eye). This is particularly the case since The Gauntlet so prizes diversity and inclusivity. Also: some of the people on G+ who are advocating the move to MeWe are people I hold in very low regard. I’m not putting anyone on blast (unless I need to) but suffice to say, MeWe is looking like some milkshake duck-ass shit and I think I’m done with it.
We have many months to get this figured out. And we will.

In case you needed another reason to back the Codex Volume 1 Kickstarter, it turns out we might need the operating funds gained from this project to build our own forums. So, what do you say? Let’s do this!
Since G+ is gonna get shut down, I figured a goodbye gift of tons of Inktober prompts would be nice.
Since G+ is gonna get shut down, I figured a goodbye gift of tons of Inktober prompts would be nice. I planned to put these out one by one through the month, but here’s an advanced sneak peek ;D I’ve only been in the G+ RPG scene for a few weeks, but I’ll 100% miss the particularity connectivity and community that’s been built into this network.
Do any of you know good alternatives for the RPG community after G+ is gone? Where else do you go?
If you wanna keep in touch for future stuff and collaborations, feel free out my socials or hmu!

Since G+ has been decidedly shuttered in the future, I figure I would put up a goodbye gift full of Inktober RPG prompts I’ve been working on. Hope y’all get inspired by this in your games to throw at em’ some cool macguffins, locations, and items! 😀
If you’d like to keep in touch after this place closes, feel free to follow or reach out at my socials!
Hey folks. I know a lot of people are concerned about where The Gauntlet is going once G+ shuts down. The organizers are discussing that and getting it figured out. We will let you know as soon as we have a solution. For now, feel free to discuss the matter in the comments here. No need to make new posts on the page about it.
I wouldn’t normally announce something like this on a Saturday, but I am presently slave to the vicissitudes of Kickstarter.
I am very excited to announce the newest stretch goal for the Codex Volume 1 Kickstarter: if we can hit $17,000, Jason Morningstar will write Night Witches: Koldunya, the first major expansion for the award-winning Night Witches game. Here is Jason’s description:
Religion was brutally suppressed in the pre-war Soviet Union, but both Orthodoxy and syncretic folk ways survived. The women of the 588th were a mix of true believers, cultural Christians, and atheists. All of them were familiar with the superstitious magic of the Russian countryside, and whether they believed in it or not, it was suffused in the air they breathed. Witches – koldunya – were real, and they could heal and curse. Even the staunchest Soviet atheist and most rational technocrat would think twice before crossing the path of one. Of course magic isn’t real, but intention is everything…
Night Witches: Koldunya adds two new Natures and a whole suite of witchcraft moves to the game. It gives you a background on religion and anti-religious efforts in the Soviet Union before the war, and allows you to add a strange and surreal veneer to your game.
The Jackdaw is a gregarious, easily distracted lover of light – a healer and soothsayer. The Nightjar, in contrast, is a solitary creature of darkness, often reviled and capable of great mischief. Both are koldunya, and both are full-fledged pilots and navigators within the regiment. Will they use their gifts in the service of God, the devil, the 588th or comrade Stalin?
This is, frankly, epic. I would be over the moon if we could hit this stretch goal, so please, please, please re-share and spread the word!
Some folks have asked how limited the Codex Volume 1 book will be.
Some folks have asked how limited the Codex Volume 1 book will be. I think they want to know if they can just pick it up later. The answer is “It is going to be extremely limited.” We’re doing a single print run, sending them to our backers, selling whatever is left through various channels, and then that’s it! We’re not a traditional publisher, and so my intention is to print as few of these books as possible (margin be damned).
If we decide to do Volume 2 or Volume 3 down the road (spoiler alert: we will) and you’re a completionist who regrets not getting Volume 1 when you had the chance… I don’t know what to tell you. You will be out of luck. Maybe convince someone to sell you theirs?
It is not feasible for us to do another print run of this book, point blank (we’re already going to barely squeak out a “profit” on this one). And even if it was feasible, The Gauntlet is simply not moved by the business considerations that might make us want to do it again.
