Do you think Misspent Youth might be rescheduled or is that fully off the table?
Do you think Misspent Youth might be rescheduled or is that fully off the table? Besides Dungeon World (ToEE) do you foresee much Roll20 based game offerings in 2014? Can anyone contribute an event should they wish to run something? Thanks!
The Wednesday Hangouts game on January 8 (Misspent Youth) has been canceled.
The Wednesday Hangouts game on January 8 (Misspent Youth) has been canceled. Apologies (I hate inconsistency), but there were a couple of reasons: 1) upon reading the rules in more depth, the game seems unmanageable over Hangouts (particularly the emphasis on freeform chatter). 2) We now have a standing Wednesday FtF game, which I prioritize over Hangouts games. I know that sounds like the very height of gamer privilege, but it is what it is.
Please note: anyone at all can organize their own Hangouts games over The Gauntlet. That is greatly encouraged.

Here is the first of several announcements for the upcoming year, Gauntleteers:
For some time, Rob Ferguson has been organizing Wednesday game nights at Jax Bar & Grill, initially as part of the gaming community called The Heights of Gaming. He has since moved it over to our little RPG enclave and I couldn’t be more pleased about that. I myself have started to attend, and have met some great people and had a terrific time. I am happy to announce that, starting in 2014, these events will be known as “Wednesday One-Shots.” Hopefully this series will serve the same purpose our Friday One-Shots did in 2013: getting as many people as possible out to play, so we can build and nourish The Gauntlet.
There are a few more 2014 announcements coming soon, so stay tuned…

On this episode of their podcast, Something Awful Let’s Play forum luminaries slowbeef, Chip Cheezum, General Ironicus, and Diabeetus explore tabletop role-playing via a short game of Dungeon World.
Interesting.
Interesting. I had never heard of several of these. Also, as far as pearl-clutching goes, I wonder if F.A.T.A.L is any worse than Lamentations of the Flame Princess/Carcosa.

Some pics from this past weekend.
Some pics from this past weekend. We played Archipelago and a Dungeon World One-Shot. DW and Archipelago were easily two of my favorite RPGs this year, so it was good to get them to the table one last time in 2013 (Monsterhearts, which was also right up there, is being played tonight).
We did a 1,001 Nights setting for Archipelago. Our heroes were: a swanmay, kept in a harem by an evil ifrit; a sorcerer in service to an exiled people; and a classic, Aladin-esque thief. For Dungeon World, our heroes were plundering the lost keep of the Ulfaren dwarf clan (a scenario I have, admittedly, run in the past).
Thanks to Rob Ferguson Daniel Lewis Ferrell Riley Shea Herlihy-Abba and Maximilian Garza .

The British Library have uploaded over a million public domain images to Flickr. They all come from 17th-19th century books and magazines.
The bad news is they are completely unlabelled and cannot be searched in a meaningful way. All they have on the images is the book or work they came from but even searching on this seems broken. The British Library plans to launch an app which crowdsources tagging and labelling next year but until then, it is lucky dip time.

This looks like an interesting setting. I think he is doing a beta on roll 20 or something. But I like the concept of the science.
