I’m sure some of you have already heard of this, but I just discovered it and it’s pretty damn cool. There are literally hundreds of these dungeons available. Worth a look.

Well, my wife and I completed our second session of b/x caves of chaos.  Her two characters met up with a couple of NPCs and a few men at arms at the keep.  The strongest of them all, an NPC died very first encounter very first pounce of the mad hermits kitty Nine HP gone just like that. Her MU dealt the most damage throwing daggers.   We had fun and something interesting happened. Right off she said I sure wasn’t rolling dice much.  Really?  Oh.  Then when her arrow missed she wondered what happened to it?  Could it hit something or someone else?  I told her there was no mechanic for that.  She asked, “Can’t we make one?”.

We are gonna play as is for now but looks like sometime in the future we will be hacking b/x.  I guess the point is that this was supposed to be nostalgia for me but my gaming style is more story driven now and mature players question things more.

This past Saturday, I had planned on taking my Stars Without Number campaign into Fiasco territory as a means of resolving several loose plot strings. Unfortunately, all of my players bugged out on me due to various family and/or work commitments. Here’s the Playset I was going to use. It lacks Relationships since we were going to use the regular Stars Without Number characters, who already have relationships with each other.

Who needs something to do tomorrow? I am making exactly one space available for our Monday night game. We will be playing Apocalypse World: Dark Age, which is a Game of Thrones-style fantasy game by Vincent Baker. It has some of the coolest play books I’ve ever seen in one of these games. Very excited.

It’s from 6:30-10:00 at my place. If you want to join us, be the first to comment below.

I’m planning on running a game of Mutant Chronicles on Friday 3/21 from 7-11pm CST online. This is based off the beta rules offered for free from Modiphius per their recent kickstarter. If this sounds like something you might want to check out, let me know and I’ll send you an invite. If you would read the rules (less then 25 pages I think) that would be helpful since we would all be learning the system together. However, please don’t read the included adventure as that is what I plan to run.

Some pictures from this week’s Wednesday One-Shots. We played a roller coaster game of World of Dungeons. I won’t try to explain what happened, except to say it involved the works of Tennessee Williams, a dysfunctional family of dragons, and a conservative lich radio host called Rush Grimbaugh.

Thanks to Rob Ferguson for running it!

This afternoon, my Saturday Man-Day gaming group meets. We’ve been playing Stars Without Number, but recent weeks have seen the campaign disrupted by absent players, illness, holidays, et cetera. Last session, the PCs managed to defeat the pirate frigate Space Beast. We’re supposed to be sorting out the aftermath of this major victory, but I’m going to be missing slightly more than half the players.

So, we’re going to play out the aftermath Fiasco style. I’ve put together lists for Needs, Locations, and Objects, but not Relationships since the players already have characters with relationships.

Will Scream of the Space Beast work? We’ll see.

Some pics from Wednesday One-Shots. We had two tables. My table used Microscope to tell the story of an Atlantis-type civilization (that might have been called Hotlantis) after it sinks into the sea. Rob Ferguson ‘s table played Kingdom and told the story of Hell in the internet age.

A great time was had by all!

If I have reason to ask “is there an Apocalypse World hack of this game?” then your system has failed to provide the correct amount of effort vs fun.
