Some pics from our Wednesday game night. We continued our Apocalypse World campaign at my table. Dan facilitated Avery Mcdaldno and Mark Diaz Truman’s The Deep Forest at his table. I imagine we will discuss both on next week’s podcast.
Thanks to Daniel Lewis for his help at the other table and to everyone else who came out to play: Scott Owen Russell Benner David LaFreniere Gary Wilson Derek Grimm Daniel Fowler and Kristen D!
We played Fiasco for Story Game Sunday this week. The playset was The Beast of Sucker Creek.

It was hilarious, and a lot dark, dirty fun. We had a crooked, murderous sheriff; an ancient feud between swamp families; Dukes of Hazard-style jailbreaks; and a money-making hoax involving one of the characters being allegedly knocked-up by the legendary Beast himself.
Thanks to Ferrell Riley Russell Benner and Jeff Burke for joining in on this little ‘swamp noir’ adventure.

It was a blast! There was lots of cheering, laughter, and good clean fun. You can’t really ask for more than that, I suppose.
The winner was Kyle Kowalski. Thanks to him, and everyone else who came out: Kristen D Ferrell Riley Marcus Centurian Scott Owen Russell Benner Jorge Salazar and Stephanie!

New Bundle of Holding just went up. This time it’s games from the Indie Game Developers Network. I’ll mention what I know of them. The starter collection is games I either haven’t or have just barely heard of. The Bonus games I’m a bit more familiar with.
There’s Misspent Youth, which I’m reading through now (and which sounds awesome; I know Daniel Lewis loves it).
I have Spark, but have yet to play. Its setting creation is really interesting. I’ll have to give it a try to test it out.
I’ve played Fortune’s Fool. It runs off of tarot cards, so that tarot deck you bought wasn’t just for Hell 4 Leather and worshiping Satan. It’s fun, but pretty fiddly; takes place in a strange historical Europe bent by orcs and dwarves and living fairy tales.
And then there’s curse the darkness and Wu Xing: The Ninja Crusade, both of which pique my interest.
Anybody know something about these games?
We had a terrific kickoff to our five-session run of Apocalypse World.
We had a terrific kickoff to our five-session run of Apocalypse World. We managed to minimize the fiddly weirdness of AW and set-up a good framework within which to tell these folks’ stories. Our characters were Dust, the Hocus; Sin, the Brainer; Diem, the Maestro’D; Doc Bon, the Angel; and Nail, the Gunlugger.
Looking forward to Session 2!
Thanks to the people who actually managed to fucking make it out last night: Gary Wilson Russell Benner David LaFreniere Derek Grimm and Scott Owen.
Yet another PbtA game. Not sure if it is worth a fig but it looked amusing enough.

I’m not sure if I should be sharing these here or not frankly (SPAM?). If so, perhaps we can create a new section for such things so they don’t clutter the main space (suck as “Kickstarters” or something of that ilk)? If the preference is to avoid doing so altogether, just let me know.
Sounds interesting to me; might be something worth taking a look at. Powered by the Apocalypse.

Fiasco is a game that always delivers, and today was no exception.
Fiasco is a game that always delivers, and today was no exception. We played the Los Angeles: 1936 playset and it was good fun. Our characters were a dirty cop, trying to make a few bucks on the side while keeping an eye on his two-timing wife; a duplicitous young homemaker with a seedy past, and dreams of getting back in the game and scoring big; a hapless young hood trying to impress his girlfriend by screwing over his boss; and a minor mafioso, desperate to move up the ladder, but destined to always be second banana.
Thanks to our new players for coming out and giving Fiasco a whirl!
