For your NPC’s in any given system:

Do you have a default format or character keeper that you use to keep track of them?

Also, what pertinent information or traits do you make sure you notate?

I ask, because I’ve basically been disorganized about it up to this point, but I’d like to do better/be more efficient about it. (Especially since I’ve got an Urban Shadows game coming up in a few weeks)

Any advice is awesome and appreciated!

What’re your favourite RPGs that you’ve never played? Games that I’ve enjoyed reading and have daydreamed about how they would play. Games that have really interesting mechanics or evocative settings…

For me, this list includes:

1. Best Friends: a roleplaying game about girlfriends and all their petty hatreds [2006]

2. Underground: super powered veterans return home to find the dream is dead [1993]

3. Cold City: In the divided city of Berlin, the Reserve Police Agency hunts down monsters left over from sinister experiments and twisted technology [2007]

My gaming mission this year is to get one (1) of these to the gaming table (actual or virtual).

I have a question about Paladins, Clerics, and crises of faith.

I have a question about Paladins, Clerics, and crises of faith.

During my last session, the Cleric in my game went through some stuff that made him question his deity. The spell that was supposed to resurrect someone he cared about, due to some failed rolls, ended up ensuring she would never come back again. Even her death in the first place was because the Paladin killed her, though as a Cleric he did not blame him because she was a criminal.

So now he is having a crisis of faith and floated the idea of changing classes to me. I’m not exactly sure how this would work but I’m interested in where he’s going. Does anyone else have experience with this where either you or someone else you were playing with decided to abandon or change their deity? How did that work?

This could be really cool when the Patreon starts doing this, before a lot of awesome maps came from it.

Since I’ve changed the focus of my Patreon, I wanted to post a sample of the types of stuff i will be posting here. So in addition to the maps I will be posting prints! The prints will be monsters, NPCs, items, anything!

So this is just a test post. I still need to figure out the best way to post the prints.

Gauntlet MCs: What are your personal best practices for pre-session preparation? What do you focus on? You have 15 minutes to prep for a session, what do you do? (15 minutes is just to help set priorities. If you have limited time, what do you focus on?)

Advice request. I’m running my first real session of Dungeon World tomorrow (I ran a one-shot once). This game is via Roll20. I have a hex map prepared for an area. Should I just show the entire map and let them plot their course, or should I use fog of war and reveal as they go? The characters have never been in this region before. Thx for any advice!

I decided to give this a go. There are still 2 spots left. Any new GMs out there thinking about it?

Mandatory Fun Club

We often have people approach us with an interest in running a game over Hangouts, but they feel uncertain about the logistics of doing so. Maybe they aren’t familiar with our procedures, or they aren’t sure if they are set up properly from a tech standpoint.

Daniel Fowler has offered to do something cool we’re calling Mandatory Fun Club. Basically, it’s kind of a guided one-shot, where he helps you get your game setup and guarantees you’ll have at least one player. It’s perfect for people who want to try running something over Hangouts in a lower stakes environment than our normal game calendar.

For details, check out this doc Fowler put together:
