Presently doing the QC and timecodes for Friday’s podcast. Listening to Meguey Baker talk about 1960’s weird fantasy makes me want to listen to some synth wave and/or run some Carcosa.

I wanted to point out to Gauntlet members a good gamer movie and a related Kickstarter that ends in a couple of days.

The first is The Gamers 3: the Hand of Fate.  (http://ow.ly/YqKIm)

It isn’t Hollywood quality, but it has a good story to it.  It’s available on YouTube for free, and the “extended” version is much better than the regular version.

The creators, Zombie Orpheus, crowdfund the production of their movies, and then put out their content for free on YouTube.

They have put other movies on YouTube like: Journey Quest, Dark Dungeons (yes, the ChickTract movie), and Humans & Households (a parody of fantasy characters playing an RPG set in our world).

Here is their YouTube channel: http://ow.ly/YqQce

Journey Quest is a series of short episodes about a humorously incompetent wizard and the trials of his party while on a quest.

They are trying to fund Journey Quest season 3 on Kickstarter, but it’s not looking good. (http://vid.io/xqEB)

I really want to finish In Moonlight, the sexy teenage werewolf PbtA game Daniel Lewis, Andrew Medeiros and myself started coming up with on Episode 40. I realize you could probably just do Monsterhearts, but I imagine this game is far more shallow than that. I think these are beautiful, idiot werewolves; like the models in Zoolander

I quite like the boy band theme Dan came up with as a way of defining the playbooks.

Hey guys, I’ve been collecting thoughts on single player RPGs to put up on a tabletop site I write for (Who Dares Rolls) and I thought of something that might be interesting to look into. The podcasters have mentioned a few times the concept of RPGs which are not intended to be played. What no-player RPGs can you think of for me to look into?

For some reason the notion of using random text to create characters has popped into my head.  More tactile folks could cut bits of text from magazines and catalogs, mix them together, then draw three or four to use as traits; you could also use the Video Game Name Generator and random searches in Wikipedia to find text.

This would work best (using “work” in the most generous sense) with Risus, PDQ, or Fate Accelerated characters.  A little puttering yielded a couple of examples:

Mister Stubbs

no one can stop the puppy lord

   couch potato

   Oceanville, New Jesey

Princess Gamma

   salsa dancing

   nihilistic hamster detective

   Imprisoned with the Pharaohs

Milton

   unremarkable croquet boy

church security has become a major concern

   Equinox (Styx album)
