  1. Benjamin Kramer I wanted very much for this to be a one-shot style adventure, and while I wasn’t even thinking about convention play, upon seeing an early draft (which was originally meant to be an entry for The Keeper Dungeon World Starter contest here on The Gauntlet) Logan Howard commented that it looked like it could make a good con game because of the variability.

Now, a one-shot doesn’t seem to fit the idea of a session zero… except that I had this idea of letting the characters play through the apocalypse. My hope is that the characters can succeed at saving the world, but not before The Destroyer’s ritual has destroyed most of it! Thus, the entire adventure is the session zero and at the end of it you’re left with a post-apocalyptic setting (rather than starting with that setting).

That said, the final paragraph of Issue 5: The Frost Giant’s Gambit (first draft completed) hints at the possibility of combining 4 and 5, and Issue 6 will explicitly state “Yeah, you can play 4, 5 and 6 as one-shots, but here are some considerations for combining them into a campaign”, complete with a d6 table for randomizing their order (6 permutations: 456, 465, 546, 564, 645, 654)
