I just got through like the first 15 episodes of DR.
This is a great podcast. I went through lots of podcasts back in the Forge days when indie RPGS were becoming a thing. This one by far is the best one I have heard.
I learned a lot even though I felt I was an experienced DW GM.
DW is my prime reason for coming to the guantlet. Listening to Discern Realities was the prime reason for me getting back into looking for DW gaming after taking a break from RPG for a few years while I was an expat in Alberta. Now that I am settled I would like to get back into it again.
I think DR has loads of great ideas, and why I have become a Pateron.
I hope the Gauntlet continues to support DW even as it broadens its horizons (which is also exciting to see)
I know I would be interested in topics such as playing with kids. A lot of folks may only have time with hectic schedules to play with Family. It creates a different kind of game. Ideally I would love to see something that is kid friendly – but not smarmy. I know I try that with my kids. It is interesting, they have great ideas (sometimes repetitive or cliche) but other times fresh.
But at the same time the games let us explore ideas with the kids about inequality and how consequences have consequences.
One of the things I know I have discovered, is that I used to think I wanted deep and gritty or more tension in games. Think TV MA. I know that abounds in indie RPGs and the OSR (which I also follow and play using moldvay or SW white box). But through play discovered what I really wanted was more TV 14.
More flight of dragons and the hobbit and lord of the rings and he-man (maybe a little less cheese) or fighting fantasy sorcery and less game of thrones in your face or night of the living dead I only found that out through play though.
That is not to say that I don’t enjoy some deep gaming, once ina while with the right group. I have played for example Polaris which basically you either die or become a demon (I died). We did the whole thing with the ambience but that is for another post sometime. A really great game if you haven’t tried it, and one of the first GMless games.
It would be great if you are getting more voices on DR to hear about some different styles of play with Dungeon World.
That was a longer post than I was meaning to. So let me summarize by saying great podcast!
Thanks for the kind words, Steven. David LaFreniere We are truly in the DR G+ renaissance right now.

Also, Steven, check out Fear of a Black Dragon if you’re into fantasy gaming. It’s also very good (and won a Silver ENnie this year).

I also think Legend of the Elements and Epyllion make good fantasy RPGs to play with kids if you want to de-emphasize violence as the answer to every problem, but still want the stakes to be epic.

David LaFreniere well it is kind of a round about way really. I once had the opportunity to play with Jason when I lived in Montrose before I expiated to Calgary. After moving back to Houston area (but not Houston Proper) and getting settled, I started getting the itch for gaming again. When I was getting back into DW, I looked at some old posts and Looked up what Jason Cordova was up to. I was amazed at what he and others had built. I hurt my back recently again and have spending a lot of time icing it after therapy. Reading a book or holding an iPad was hard while laying down. So I started binge listening while doing that. i liked it enough I then started to listen in the car. They are almost but not quite the length of my commute. The values of the gauntlet and the game (if not always the tone of the game) jives with me. So much of the gaming community is filled with Asshatery. So I want to support it. That has lead me to join the gauntlet, pattern and back the kick starter. I believe in supporting the communities you need with your wallet. Keep it up please! I was glad to hear you will be continuing it. I was pretty excited that you guys were thinking about other voices on the show in a controlled format. There is still a lot of people who don’t know what it is. While at boardgames night last night trying to rustle up some gamers, I asked someone if they were interested in playing. They were like I haven’t heard of DW. I play 5e. I was like well you got to try it. So there is still a strong need for that kind of support. Keep it up guys!

I think potentially the implosion of g+ had gotten people to back and look at their old communities and potentially got them thinking about things again. Just a theory, that with the kick starter and new episode. So they all build on each other. Maybe we need a DSR. dungeon world school renaissance.

Jeremy Downey steven stewart I would also suggest Golden Sky Stories as a game that could fit the TV14 rating. I just played in a setting for it called “Engine Skies” during GauntletCon, and it was very much like a Wall-E rpg.
