Hey Gauntleteers! It’s Rach here with some hot and exciting +1 Forward content.
Richard Rogers and I are preparing a follow up to last year’s +1 Forward episode “Playing the Apocalypse”. This episode explored questions from the community about playing PbtA games. Topics we covered last time included strategies to help other players succeed, how to best engage interPC mechanics and the differences between being a player in a PbtA game verses other systems.
Do you have any new and fresh questions about playing Powered by the Apocalypse games? Let us know here and your question might get featured on the show! I can’t wait to see what important topics and ideas you all suggest.
Please note that these questions should be tied to being a player and not an MC.
No ideas, but I love listening to these! Also, Rach, you’re a fantastic addition to the show – I especially like the shows that have both of you!

How should players best facilitate their characters interacting in a hostile ways? Follow up, how can the MC help facilitate or, if the game situation/system seems appropriate, encourage players to have their characters engage in hostile ways?

What materials could the player use to easily organize the informations about the character. PbtA abstract a lot of thing, but most move from most playbook is a case of “specific over general”. Which mean to memorize all the chosen playbook moves on top of the general moves (and the special moves). My players tend to keep around 3 sheets of paper in front of them at all time. More if they have access to sub system abilities (example : hacking in The Sprawl).

A bunch of PbtA games have special buttons I can press as a player, e.g. Strings in Monsterhearts, Influence in Masks, etc. Have you got any tips or strategies for keeping track of these and remembering to use them?
Also, if the Moves I’ve picked from a playbook turn out to be sub-optimal for where the story is going, what should I do? Stick with them, ask the MC if I can select new Moves or ask the MC to shift the story so that I can use the Moves I’ve picked?
