The newest episode of Fear of a Black Dragon is here!

The newest episode of Fear of a Black Dragon is here! In this one, Tom McGrenery and I go exploring a thousand feet below the surface in Operation Unfathomable! I am particularly proud of our discussion of good characterizations in this one.

Thanks to Paul Edson for the fine edit!

Enjoy!

  1. For those of you that look for Tom McGrenery’s most erudite reference in each episode (as I do), I think “Pascal’s wager” is the winner in this ep.

  3. It is. I greatly look forward to every episode, even the ones about books I’m not interested in.

(I AM interested in storygames, just not as much as OSR.)

  5. If you like the soundtrack of Forbidden Planet then try the Silver Apples of the Moon by Morton Subotnick. I’ve used it on Halloween when I’ve had mad scientist themed decore/party. Maybe a retread of Forbidden Planet but who gets tired of that? Well….

  7. Here’s a comment from Jez Gordon, which I want to reshare here because no one reads the Libsyn comments: “Thanks for the review! Just wanna clarify that the artists who worked on it were mostly Jason Sholtis, along with Chris Brandt, John Larrey, Stefan Poag, and Karl Stjernberg.

As for your issue with the Underworld Map, definitely print the spread on A3/17x11in page. Additionally, in the Print on Demand version of Operation Unfathomable, the Underworld Map is included zoomed in and spread across the 4 back pages. MUCH EASIER TO READ. Hopefully that will solve your legibility issues.”
