Stars and Wishes
Hi y’all, here’s a chance for us to thinking about what we’ve achieved!
A little change to the format: If you can remember, let us know how you did on last week’s wish as well! Then, tell us what’s coming up, what have you done? How awesome are you? (Here’s a hint: LOTS!)
Last Week’s Wish: Oh I didn’t end up getting to making moves on camera, but I’m probably going to do that this week. I did find some identity though!
Star: My PbtA game found some identity this week. I refocused a lot, stepped back from “do something good that will get me the praise of people I respect” and decided to be more about “just try this, push this, test this”. It’s amazingly effective, and has made it a lot easier (as someone with a huge taste/ability gap!) to be okay with my work in progress.
Wish: Oh exciting. What’s on the cards this week? I have a lot of uni work to get through, so maybe just like, finding some time here and there would be nice. Specifically, I’d like to have my basic moves written.
Oh and we’re finishing off Lady Blackbird later today. Wow, what an amazing ride that game has been. Just…closing that in a way that we’re all happy with would mean the world to me. I’m not sure what that looks like yet.

🗓️🌬️🎂: I did it. I re-read and ran Dialect at New Mexicon. Next year I want to run it the first time slot instead of the last. Also got some great feedback on what I could do to run it better next time. The group was absolutely fantastic, it was a great way to end the con.
🌟: New Mexicon was a blast. Got to play with some awesome folks. Some I knew were stellar and some new (to me) stars!
🌬️🎂: Make some reference sheets to help me facilitate Dialect next time. Also do some prep (make a copy of AW Google sheet, and send out hangouts introduction) for the AW game I’m running in May.

Star: Reading through the Fantasy Flight Games Genesys to run a one-shot game at our Playing in Public event in a couple of weeks.
Wish: Keep the sanity for another week and begin scheduling more playtesting.

Two Week’s Ago’s Wish: I put a game on the calendar! The timing isn’t great, but the players I’ve got are solid and since I want games all the time, I’ll count it as a success.
Star: I actually asked some questions on the Slack instead of my usual “observe and try to work it out from context” MO, and I think I’m content with the state of the Alas character keeper I’ve been hacking.
Wish: I want to remember the stuff I can do in Blades long enough to actually do some of it, and to push harder instead of falling into that “watch and wait” mode. Goal for this week is to do a flashback.

Wish: To be a little less emotionally unstable this week. To appreciate the good things I have.

Oh, I so forgot to get back here and write this thing up… because I was waiting for something to happen.
Fulfilled wishes: I was hoping to bring over a friend into the Gauntlet, and due to the magic of strange playing times combined with a sprinkling of strange sleep times, I got my wish with Sasha Reneau, and will soon get my wish with another friend!
Stars: I survived a rough week of work- and family-related stress, and coming out the other side I actually feel a bit inspired around a little more self-prioritization, and focus.
Wishes: After the feeling of “focus” I wasn’t able to focus well back when I write this (weeks ago), but since then I have, and am in a better place (for now!)
