I love this community.

I love this community.

I love this community.

As someone who slowly transitioned from podcast listener, to G+ poster, and now the $6 a month Patreon support level just to get on the Gauntlet Slack, I don’t regret a penny.

If it is at all within your budget, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Good people, good friends, good discussions, and good support

  1. The $6 Patreon level is an amazing value when you consider you also get a very high-quality magazine every month, and so many pick-up games happen on our Slack that it’s practically a never-ending Games on Demand. (Seriously: as many games as we put on the calendar, at least half as many more are organized ad-hoc on our Slack.) There are also huge direct and ambient benefits if you’re a game designer or you have something you’re trying to promote. The Slack group will have your back all the way, and the podcast hosts are naturally more receptive to whatever your thing is because we’re being exposed to it more frequently.

  3. 100% Jason. I’d add that because of my time commitments, I just can’t participate in Gauntlet Hangouts games. The only time I’ve played with the Gauntlet is at GauntletCon, and it is still worth every penny.

  5. This post was me as well. And then I went on to the next level up as I found I could occasionally find time for games. And then found pickup games and international scheduling times worked incredibly well for me.

There is a critical mass that starts to occur as well. Most of us are there with similar tastes, play styles, and openness to games we want to try, and when you get those folks in the same space, you eventually find people like-minded in free times and other factors.

Many games are scheduled for weekdays after US-EST work hours, but then someone scheduled a Pacific timezone after work game and it filled instantly. Europe games? Filled. Asia timezone? Filled. Want to play at Pacific 6am on a weekend? Done. Want to play at 1:30am with the Asia crew? Done. Seriously, so many good things going on constantly. It’s… gratifying.
