We workshopped this over several days, and I’m excited to see this out in the world. I feel these A and P encapsulate how the best Gauntlet game sessions happen, and I’m proud of this episode.

What do you think?

  1. The bit on World of Darkness bit confused me, because most World of Darkness players I’ve known embrace failure. The issues from people used to those games are different, especially with embracing play to find out what happens

  3. One of the things that makes Brian Holland’s Session Zero zine so cool is that he set an agenda and principles for himself in creating it! So smart!

  5. I enjoy this new approach to the show. Less focused on specific games but more on the generalities of the PBTA engine. Its a good transition since their a finite amount of games.

  7. This was a great episode. It was so interesting to hear these player agendas as both good advice in general, but also real factors of what the game is looking for. The discussion of Dream Askew was so wonderful, because I got to play with Avery and I saw how useful they were. I loved you brought in MotW’s, even though they are kinda buried in the text and it made me think about them again. I play MotW quite a lot and may have not thought about them directly in some time. I am also so happy to hear Fellowship get some love. I think Jacob made something really special, though even I have to cheat the system sometimes. Glad to hear our game has stuck with you, Rich. I will have to get your agenda out there more!!

  9. You could go a step further and have player moves, on 12+ you do player move – 1=buy pizza for mc, 2-ask mc to reintroduce forgotten npc/plot, 3-offer to run the next game

  11. This episode did NOT disappoint! I thought you two arrived at a nice list. It makes me want to incorporate this into some of my future work too.
