  1. I really enjoyed this one, for a bunch of reasons. I really liked the points about adventure design, recurring elements and the use of themes. But also (as someone who works entirely in fictional places), there’s something about using a real-world setting that is just soaked with culture that makes me ache. The overlap of cultures, deep family roots; items of religious significance that are either comforting or sinister.. ugh!

  3. I agree with everything Michael Prescott said. I really liked Jason Cordova’s personal story about the cloaked figure in the desert. It reminds me of some “ghost” stories my wife tells. Images can haunt us decade’s later. Thanks Tom McGrenery for bringing up The Invaders. Love that show. It was always cool how they would take poison pills and completely vanish so he never had evidence.

  5. I’m just one segment in and my brain keeps screaming “Bad News at Black Rock”! (Classic Spencer Tracy film) Not sure if it is in the companion adventures, but I can’t help but think it inspired the writers somewhat.

  7. Terrific episode, as always. Not really interested in playing/running CoC these days, but I was still entertained and drawn into the discussion. It was mentioned that you played this at Gauntlet Con – was that session ever posted anywhere?

    300 cannibal imbeciles!

  9. Re: comments about non-supernatural horror and Duel, I assume you have listened to the Good Friends of Jackson Elias and their recent episodes on Folk Horror (ep 122) and the follow up on The Wicker Man (ep 123)?

  11. I would love to get some insight into how Tom McGrenery handles converting old-school CoC modules to Cthulhu Dark. Maybe something to dig into in a future episode?
