Last ever?
Robert Bohl It’s the last scheduled “games roundup” episode for the year, and there’s talk of a format change in the new year.

I love the games roundup. I hear about so many new games that way!

Thanks for the very kind words about The ‘Hood; I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed it and I like the comparison to Reservoir Dogs. Rest assured that any difficulties you’ve experienced MCing it are down to my lack of ability in communicating the ideas in my head. 🙂

James Mullen I think The ‘Hood is a darn good game, it’s different and interesting. It’s a game I want to spend more time with in 2018.

Fraser Simons so cute Fraser. One hour after it’s up you feel like you have missed it. That I call dedication! 😙

Well, not to sound suppppper lame…but usually I am listening before the post even goes up. I listen to podcasts a lot while I’m working. Love ‘um.

Fraser Simons I know what you mean. I receive push notifications for videos published on YouTube for my favourite Gauntleteers and hence also often listen before the post. 🚨

I’m excited to see the new format, but I’d be sad if there’s no roundup — I’ve learned about so many cool games from those episodes. It really opened my eyes to the indie rpg scene!

Podcast proposal: Give the games roundup its own show. You could call it Running The Gauntlet. Reviewing new stuff out that month.

The Games roundup has been my favorite format since the “early days” of the show when the Gauntlet podcast was just that: Dedicated gamers talking about weird ass games they have recently played that I hadn’t have heard before.
James Mullen if you ever plan to run The Hood online preferably set in post World War I Birmingham hook me up!

I love the idea of a RtG show. Great title, too, Oli.

I think there will be a version of the Games Round-up next year that focuses more squarely on Gauntlet Hangouts. One of my major priorities next year, in addition to increasing our diversity as a community, is to make the various parts of the Gauntlet feel more like a single entity.

Continuing from my comment above, one of the things I am excited about is that we now have much better tools for running a variety of games on Hangouts than we did last year. That means we should be able to expand the Gauntlet Hangouts discussion beyond PbtA games. In fact, I am already starting to reintroduce weird-ass games back into my schedule.

Jason is just dying to talk about Rifts 🙂

I love PbtA but I also miss the just bizarre stuff that I’d never heard of in early Gauntlet episodes.

Fraser Simons I would unironically love that.

Yay! Another NaNoWriMo person! How are you holding up Rach Shelkey? I’m running a bit behind but am within striking distance. May the writing spirit inhabit you!

Oli Jeffery I love the title, “Running the Gauntlet.” Maybe another show, “Throwing Down the Gauntlet” where two people debate rpg-related topics? 🙂

Thanks for the shoutout Lowell Francis! It was another great episode! I am definitely going to run Blades in February with Richard Rogers’s criticisms in mind because I got the same feedback from players the first time I ran the game. Getting better bit by bit!

Logan Howard I ended up recording a lot of little interviews with PbtA designers and then my November ran away!
Unless I can write 30k in 9 hours. 🙁

Donogh McCarthy That’s exactly the model I’m thinking of. My RPG shelf is an older model called the Expedit, which has slightly thicker outside walls.

Rach Shelkey That is an excellent reason! Those interviews are a gift to PbtA players. NaNoWriMo is every year. Besides, that’s 20k you didn’t have written before you started. Even if you throw it out, it was great practice.
