I’m terribly confused.

I’m terribly confused.

I’m terribly confused. Fear of the Black Dragon is by far the best OSR podcast except Blogs on Tape (which is simply doing a very different thing of similar quality.) Why is this confusing? Neither host appears to like playing OSR games. They use PbtA instead. Whoa. Heroic work, weirdos.

  1. It’s honestly only the second OSR podcast I’m willing to keep listening to. Maybe I’ve missed something. This is excellent though. I believe I heard something worth hearing in every minute of every episode. That’s superb. I’m really looking forward to Yoon-Suin 2.

  3. They talk about how to use OSR content in PbtA games too, for anyone reading and wondering.

The show’stitle is kind of passe. It should be titled “Terror of a Fuchsia Gardenia.”

  5. I admit, it’s quite a lot like OSR, and it’s intended to be like it. Have you tried Maze Rats or Into the Odd? Those are similarly rules-lite with room for storytelling and a focus on rulings over rules, but they’re a little more suited to OSR material, in my opinion. (Not that there’s anything wrong with using World of Dungeons for everything though. It’s beautiful/elegant, like everything else John Harper has ever touched.)

  7. Ha! I’m glad Jason Hobbs showed up to weigh in–when you said you only followed those two OSR-related podcasts, I instinctively thought, “What about Hobbs&Friends?”

  9. Eddie Hardy I listened to two episodes and didn’t find anything enjoyable useful. It seemed like a couple of people having a conversation. I listened to it before I became an OCD OSR fanatic, so maybe I need to listen again and maybe I need to pick out an episode with a topic I’m specifically interested in.
