  1. Dreams to Tom McGrenery for his game of Malandros today. He had a table of outstanding Gauntlet regulars but managed to push things even further with his amazing characterizations and superb organization. Flawless session from start to finish. I’ll be talking about it for a long time.

  3. Dreams to Rob Deobald, who pulled off a very tricky thing: showing what a campaign length game is all about in just a single session. I am desperate to get Space Wurm to the table for a campaign after having the possibilities ably demonstrated by Rob.

  5. Dreams to Misdirected Mark Productions for letting me die spectacularly in his wonderful adventure…and also for letting me check off another name on my “people I’d like to RP with once in my life” list.

Dreams to I can’t plus it because I’m not sure which John Campbell is him…but thank you for giving me the chance to play Key-13 in City of Mist. Though given the last scene, I may have been tactically better off taking Flicker from the pre-gens. I love the fact that I got to play my disoriented cyborg girl and that she got in over her head with a bunch of animalistic gangers.

  7. And dreams to Paul Czege for a truly touching session of Traverser. I signed up for the game partially because of what I’d head about The Clay That Woke, but mostly because his description for Traverser was confusing and intriguing in equal measure. The game itself wildly surpassed any expectations I had and Paul’s gentle and sensual approach to playing the world we were in was 100% engaging.

  9. Christopher Sniezak ran a really solid game of Dungeon world in castle Odvek. It was great to play an old school feeling dungeon crawl. Reminded me of the good old days of starting out with D&D.

  11. Fraser Simons thanks for working past the connection issues I had at the starting of our game of the veil. I still felt like I was able to jump into the game knowing what was going on. Mysteries are tricky to run, but our table collaboratively with great spotlight control to tell a tightly paced cyberpunk thrill ride with a great twist at the end.

  13. Dreams to all my GMs, but in particular to Oli Jeffery for his absolutely amazing game of MH2 which kicked off the Con for me. His setting was unsettling and his playbook selections were tight, thoughtful and targeted right at each other. He ripped us apart, wove us together and gave every single character a strong arc. I left the game hungry to see what happens next for our characters, and with a deep love and respect for all my fellow players. It was everything that Monsterhearts should be. Thank you, Oli, for helping make my Gauntlet Con incredible.

  15. Dreams to Adam Robichaud for facilitating Poutine. While the game called for you to take a back seat, your themes and feeling came through clearly in the game you wrote and created a session that was amazing for the players. We were highly engaged with the stories and lives of the characters.

  17. Dream to +Sherman S (who gracefully dodged my tagging skills) for running the grossest, goriest and most gonzo game of the Con and enabled my character to wreck havoc in a world of trash, blood and feces. Plus: I could for the first time in my life use a poop emoji on Discord without feeling silly at all.

  19. Dreams to Christopher Grey For running a game where the po’boys are tasty, the candy corn is plentiful, and the horses all give you their full and undivided attention.

  21. A dream for Maria Rivera for crystalizing a final fantasy for our group in Heroes & Crystal Kingdoms! I enjoyed our mellow close company game of moon-hunting adventurers!

  23. Dreams to Jason Hobbs (there are a lot of people with that name, so no plus atm) for showing me some old scholl D&D I really had fun with and all the work the went into preparing that Hexmap. I had a great time and found a lot to like in a niche of the hobby I had not explored yet. So I guess I turned over some new Hexes and got XP in real life as well.

Dreams to Hayley G first for making Alas for the Awful Sea and then running a good game of it. I am happy I joined in when the spot opened. The game was a lot better than sleeping and a great start to the weekend.

  25. And of course so many dreams to Richard Rogers, Kate Bullock, and Jason Cordova for setting all this up and providing a weekend full of good times and good people, which I really needed after events of the last 6 weeks. Bless you all.

  27. Dream to Kate Bullock for designing and facilitating a terrific game of Crossroads Carnival where Jennifer Erixon and I were able to have a touching scene of one character comforting the other. Left several of us near to tears!

  29. Dream to Vivien Feasson for running a brilliant dark game of Librete that put children into horrible situations in a world without adults, but with nasty Tongue creatures… Many intense moments of horror, fear, innocence, and bonding. Thank you for letting us make the characters are own! Boots will live on and will definitely get that fucking tongue off of her!

  31. Dreams to Tyler Lominack who ran Pigsmoke for us with such a deft touch. He cut between our solo scenes so well, and gave every NPC a great centre/voice – I was enthralled by every scene I wasn’t in and loved every minute

  33. A dream to Michael G. Barford for taking me to the Purple planet, introducing me to World of Dungeons, leading me out onto a thinning rope of smoke and letting me fall.

  35. I had an excellent time playing Dungeon World with Jason Cordova. He provided some great opportunities for me to explore my character and we even ended with a heart-wrenching decision. I really appreciated his help because I hadn’t ever played Dungeon World as a player, only a GM. I definitely learned a lot about how to play a character and how to structure my next sessions.

  37. David LaFreniere was a great GM for Funnel World. Despite having twelve characters to manage, he made sure everyone got their own scenes and stories. By the end of the game, we had turned twelve names into twelve people we cared about. It was a lot of fun, and I loved the horror aspect of the game.

  39. Dreams to Jason Cordova for running the 3 game mini campaign of DW. First time I have gotten to play in on of his games, it was awesome. His story telling and detail make the whole thing really come alive. I had a lot of fun and want continue.

  45. Dreams to Tyler Lominack for making that school fair of Pigsmoke come alive and making the game shine while compressed in a tight frame of time. I loved the quirky NPCs, how all the PCs were highlighted and the fun wrap up of the entire session!

  47. Dreams to Stephanie Bryant for taking us on a ride on the Bumblebee, fueled by cherry flavored sugar, popped off plastic heads, ripped fur, pretentious bears, cotton candy hurricanes and sad socks.

    In short, a real treat!

  49. Dreams to Hayley G who artfully wove a game of the mundane and the mythical together with our crew of misfits under a righteous captain in Alas for the Awful Sea.

I loved the contrast and intercut between those two making them feel integral to each other.

  59. Dreams to Michael Prescott for inviting us to play inside one of his beautiful maps – terrifying heights, horrible smells, some whimsy, some scary weirdness. I loved it! 🙂

  61. Dreams to Gerrit Reininghaus for my first and excellent game of Sagas of the Icelanders. It was an excellent cohesive story and I was buzzing with it. It energized me for the rest of the day and the weekend.

  63. Dreams to Hayley G. Her game of Alas for the Awful Sea was my highlight of the whole con – I took a risk and played a character I wouldn’t usually play: an 11 year old girl, and then was rewarded with being part of a story that was the perfect mix (for me!) of whimsy, mystery, connections and a little bit of scaryness. Thanks again!

  65. Dreams to Slade Stolar for a bizarre game of Into The Odd. The pre-gen characters: so colourful! The denizens of The (decrepit) Royal Gardens: so odd! Fav moment: “You made a pun; roll a d6. (Daniel rolls a 4) Okay, that’s fine… for now.” Dun-dun-DUNN!!

  67. A dream for Fraser Simons for bringing a cyberpunk newbie into the captivating world of The Veil and making a smooth, extremely satisfying experience. I can’t wait to place a book order and start exploring the genre!

  75. A dream for Jason Cordova for being so accessible when I pitched my panel idea, his trust and support motivated me to give it my all and make it something I could be really proud of. I’ve got podcasting aspirations and I came away from this experience madly inspired to start cookin’ up some quality content :^]

Thanks for the boost and for bringing your A-game to the panel, it gave me life this weekend <3

  83. Dreams to MadJay Brown for an unforgettable session of Tenra Bansho Zero! His enthusiasm & imagination built us a fantastical world to explore. His expertise & patience untangled a very dense, very long text for us. His joy & support propelled us through a story that was more delightful by the minute. Thanks to everyone in the session for a trope-tastic anime romp!

  85. And some icy, blood-soaked Dreams to Gerrit Reininghaus for another magical & twisted journey through Colonial Iceland in Sagas of the Icelanders! I’ve played Sagas several times with Gerrit and I love how perfectly he intuits the exact mix of drama, tragedy, magic, & tawdriness that that setting requires. But Friday’s session was a true work of art as, fueled by the constraints of a 3 hour slot, Gerrit propelled us through a epic tale of Love, Loss, Betrayal, & Faith. The story even had the compelling symmetry of starting with a funeral and ending with a wedding! And all of this while, completely hidden from us at the table, Gerrit was coming down with a terrible flu! It makes me want to fly down there, put on a hazmat suit, and hug you buddy!

  87. Had a great time with +Vivien Feasson ‘s Liberte. Not sure how to make my iPhone keyboard spell it properly.

And +Rob Deobald making my space Wurm vs Moonicorn and SwoM dreams come true!

+Mark Diaz Truman also ran an incredible game of Cartel.

Monsterhearts was fantastic with +Mark Causey !

  91. MAJOR dreams to the Help Desk team! Every time I opened Discord, the Help Desk person was running that fucker. Pinning videos, directing traffic, answering questions, and just generally interacting with everyone. You knew they were in charge and it made for a great experience.

  93. To Fraser Simons, who had the patience of a saint with a clueless player, yet still had the skills to build a world. There are some people who just ARE the genre, and Fraser Simons IS cyberpunk.

To Jason Cordova, who spun epic webs of mystery from the threads of a thousand spiders. A game with Jason is like watching a medium in a fugue state, conjuring the spirits of another world to the table.

To Paul Czege, who created a world broken from time and wrote and rewrote my memories of it. A unique role-playing experience I won’t soon forget.

To Michael Heiligenstein, who brought me back to the space operas I imagined as a kid, and let me play my part in the rebellion.

  95. So many awesome GM’s I played with the last 2 days and want to give all the love to…

Lowell Francis ran me in two wonderful games of WWW. I am a huge fan of the game, and Lowell is the absolute master. He was brilliant in his story lines, supportive of his players, and wrangled our chaotic herd into an amazing experience. Thank you, Lowell!

Tom McGrenery ran me in Malandros, and it was one of the most satisfying game sessions I have ever been a part of. He made a beautiful, rich world, populated by brilliantly compelling NPCs. With four gamers known for throwing narrative curve balls, Tom knocked it out of the park! Thank you, Tom!

Hayley G ran me in Alas the Awful Sea, which was a transcendent journey into my favorite historical era. Add to that magic beasties, family feuds, and lamenting ghosts…what could be better? All of this she handled with encouragement and kindness which took our dark story into soaring light. Thank you, Hayley!

christopher gray ran me in in Happiest Apocalypse on Earth, and I’ve never feared a mouse so much. He brought the kooky, creepy fun park world to life…and I’ll never look at a carousel the same again. Thank you, Christopher!

Johnstone Metzger ran me in the amazing Veil. His Day Traders creation was brilliant, and creepy, and disturbing. I never imagined my last game of the Con would end with a Techno-Demon in my head. Thank you, Johnstone!

And I must end my love letters with Avery Alder, who ran me in Dream Askew. Every moment of this game was phenomenal. The game itself was so gorgeously done, and Avery led us into an emotional experience unlike anything I have ever played. She not only gave us her beautiful creation, she also gave us her resplendent spirit. She challenged, encouraged, and uplifted us. It has been many, many years since a game brought me to tears…but today I shed them in both heartbreak and in joy. I have never known any game that touched me like this one. Thank you so much, Avery!

  97. Dreams to Stephen Dewey for To Serve Her Wintery Hunger, which was just the bleediest, most fun game I’ve ever experienced. I honestly wish he’d recorded it because it was both so wonderfully GMed and so fantastically engaged by the players. I had such a wonderful time acting as the Winter’s Hunger, and it’s the game that’s been in my head most since I played. It’s lingered in this very “Dewey” way, and knowing that I had that experience has been a liferaft from the Condrop. Stephen has a tremendous amount of respect for his players, and the games are run for them. Stephen is a poet, he just writes the kind of poetry to which you can roll dice.

It’s lingered in this very “Dewey” way, and knowing that I had that experience has been a liferaft from the Condrop. Stephen has a tremendous amount of respect for his players, and the games are run for them. Stephen is a poet, he just writes the kind of poetry to which you can roll dice.

  99. Dreams to Ryan Macklin for the masterful GMing of Katanas and Trenchcoats. Amazing narrative sharing, really strong pacing, and very very great tone control. Seriously everyone should watch at least one game of K&T from GauntletCon to see how he revealed relevant rules during play, and got the players engaging as soon as possible (rather than a big setup phase prior to play). I think I learned the most about how to run games from this game, and it was still one of the most zany-yet-emo experiences I’ve ever had. His debrief/playtest notes showed he cared about his players as well, and I return in triplicate all the respect he showed me.

  101. Dreams to Pat Perkins for Swords without Master. Pat listens to his players, Pat wants to hear what you have to say. Pat’s game is just an excuse for Pat to be like “I really like the cool things you’re saying please say more of them!” Pat plays WITH people, not around them. Pat doesn’t want to just show you the game he brought. Pat brought the game, but he wants you to show it to him.

I like Pat, and I hope Pat likes me.

  103. Dreams to River Williamson for letting us playtest their game, sure. But more for dropping in to the discord afterwards at ridiculous o’clock their time saying “Just wanted to say goodnight to the Australians. Hope you had a good con.” Games are fun and all, 3hrs of play is great and all, but River cares after that 3hrs is up, and that’s why they get Dreams.

  105. Dreams to Mark Diaz Truman who ran Cartel for us. Took the smallest of character creation details and spun them out in play where our messily intertwined lives ran the gamut from tension to violence and (melo)drama – great touching moments and some laughs too

  107. The scene between David LaFreniere’s Seer and Jennifer Erixon’s Geek was exactly the fraught, emotional play that I wanted to see out of Kate Bullock’s Carnival Crossroads.

    Will P YEAH! Go #TeamWill

Michael G. Barford Maximo was the heart of that group. He was too precious.

  109. A dream to MadJay Brown for showing us Tenra Bansho Zero and finally making it click for me. I’d read it and it hadn’t stuck, but thanks to his set up and explanation, I have a better grasp of the system. It was also a great concept (an homage to Gurren Lagann). It did what the best one shots do: made me want to play those characters more.

  111. First off, I know the theory is for GMs, but dreams to Patrick Knowles and Sherri Stewart. The panel we were on together was so much better because of those two awesome people.

Dreams for Kate Bullock for pushing the players at each other to create enticing moments. The scene mentioned above was great, but so were many of the others. I loved the escalation to get things out of control and just trying to hold onto the reigns.

Dreams for Tyler Lominack you brought the setting and fantastic NPCs, together they highlighted the bickering Professors just trying to be as lazy as possible, but still get the recognition they (think) they deserve.

Dreams to Avery Alder for just making Dream Askew, but also for trusting us with the playtest materials. I thought there were excellent. Additionally, I love how you prodded us and got us intertwined in each other stories. The questions were great! I also really loved how easily the “setting roles” were passed around and picked up, it flowed well. Those setting roles felt evocative and I think having them be anthropomorphized helped them feel real, as well as offered freedom to be slightly needy (with their own desires!) in direct or sideways opposition to the PCs. Giving us ways to offer interesting conflicts without ‘our’ PCs necessarily being directly opposed.

  113. Dreams to Charles Gatz for running two great games of DW: Plundergrounds. The first time yhe dice went horribly and we had a great time being set on fire. By Sunday Charles Gatz had gotten over beong visibly nervous and really fell into his stride. Great pacing and lots of action with a respectful attention to shared spotlight. Great way to start and end my con, Plundergrounds.

  115. A dream to Kyle Thompson for running his Bloodborne hack of Urban Shadows called Yharnam Shadows ! I joined at the last minute (late actually) and he was incredibly facilitating. It was an amazing game and we were all on point in creating this really interesting situation with politics and intrigue. I wanted to keep playing! I am hoping Kyle will run Yharnam Shadows again for me sometime.

I wasn’t sure I would be able to get in on any of the GauntletCon action what with being sick with a cold and having important offline plans over the weekend. So I have to also give a dream to Christo Meid for convincing me to jump in and also for going the extra mile. He didn’t have to help get another player for Kyle, but he did. He didn’t have to start making my character for me while I drove home to my computer, but he did. He even made a talk dark and handsome character with the volatile trait! That is totally ME! I was really feeling the love. I had no expectation of participating and ended up having the kind of special moment that makes a con memorable. And also exemplifies why The Gauntlet is an amazing community.

  117. Dreams to Yoshi Creelman for making it easy to grok the pretty-dang-intricate Atlas Reckoning! I’d actually feel fine playing it online now no prob. Lots of fun!

  119. Dreams to the GMs I had to contact to cancel my participation only an hour before the game because of being sick. You just wished to get better and luckily all quickly found somebody else to join. I missed a lot not playing with you.

Dreams to Avery Alder for a Dream Askew in which I felt wonderfully torn between a community to love and a gang to lead and finally could find acceptance as the Rat Sub while others found release in death, got flooded away in psychic maelstrom or became friends.

Dreams to Mark Diaz Truman whose Cartel brought me luxuries you could only dream of together with friends to trust and employees who love me for my forgiveness. If only I could stand the smell of hospitals I might still be alive.

  123. Props and thanks to the organizers. This really didn’t look or run like a “first time” con. Very well organized and thought out!

Kudos and love to the panel guests and hosts. Such interesting discussions! I am still working my way through them. A nice legacy from a con well done.

A hearty handshake to all the Gauntleteers I had the pleasure of meeting last weekend! May we cross paths again!

    Thanks all!

  125. Dreams to Hayley G. I got a lot out of watching you run Alas for the Awful Sea. The way you ran it at the pace of the first session of a campaign, and with a big cast of npcs, but made it work and feel satisfying as a convention game by orchestrating toward a foreshadowed public event (the burning of contraband merchandise) was really instructive. I copied the technique for my second Gauntlet Con slot of Traverser, and will absolutely use it now whenever I run rich setting, longer paced campaign RPGs with big casts of npcs as convention one shots.

  127. I don’t need prizes, so please don’t put me in the hopper, but… I have dreams for Ryan Macklin for managing to take the 90s up to 11 in the game I played of Katanas & Trenchcoats. It was AMAZING! I played Fabio as a were-stag.

  129. And also, to Mark Causey for his Monsterhearts 2 game. It was a great setup for a game that often needs time and care to develop into a thing, and inspirational to me.

  131. Dreams to Phil Vecchione who gave us everything we asked for at the start of our session of Hydro Hackers. Keeping the tension and intrigue high despite our inability to roll <10. Hope I see the finished product on Kickstarter soon!

  133. Dreams to Charles Gatz for squeezing an amazing amount of Plundergrounds: Kazarak into a 4 hour session! He juggled the spotlight well and moved things along so we would get to enjoy most of Ray’s cool material.

  135. Dreams to Christopher Challis (hope I tagged the right one) for running Vanaguard. I really enjoyed this game. The card mechanic was challanging and informed the fiction. The gameplay provided so much opportunity for player agency and collaborative storytelling. The art is so pretty too. But specifically the dreams for the GM go to the way he seamlessly used the cards and the runes to come up with scenes that were evocative and fit the setting so well. Thanks for a fun session and introducing me to such a charming game.

  137. Dreams to Michael XH for Apocalypse World: Fallen Empires West . What a brilliant idea, that the old west IS an apocalypse and then hacking together AW 2nd ed and Fallen Empires for a real nice feel of settlers trying to carve a home out for themselves. We had a short session, only 3 hours but I felt we all got a chance to develop our characters and get a satisfying story told. My regret is that it was a one shot, I would love to play a campaign in that setting. Great job to Michael for pushing the story forward and giving us all a chance to shine.
