With Gauntlet Con coming up fast I have a couple newbie questions:

1 – Other than my computer, headphones and a microphone, what should I have ready? Do I bring blank playbooks (Dungeon World game) or would there be something over Google Docs?

2 – Do I need to download some kind of dice app?

3 – Is there something “everyone” knows about gaming online that I might be clueless about?

  1. 1 – You don’t need to have anything ready to play other than internet access, mic, and webcam! We’re sharing the Discord app link with you soon and you can join that server via a web browser. GMs will find you there if they haven’t already sent you an email for contact (some have, it was an optional step).

2 – Nope! We’re using Shane Liebling’s awesome Roll for Your Party website for die rolling!

3 – It’s super fun and easier than you think! Make sure and join the Discord when you can and hang out with the Gauntlet Con staff.

  3. My experience with gauntlet events says it’s up to the person running to decide, but here are some common things:

Character sheets are mostly done through a shared Google doc. Feel free to record what you need yo on paper as long as you also include the system critical stuff in the doc.

Dice rolling can be done a number of ways, but I’ve never seen a download required. I know Shane Liebling has created a web based shared view dice roller, which will likely be popular, but a lot of gm’ s will likely do every player for themselve/honor system on rolling.

Have a good time, but not at the expense of others.

  5. roll20 is up to the GM, Jason Hobbs, just know that you’ll need to teach your players.

Maezar, only Patrons at the $2 level or folks who paid $5 for the con can participate.

Robert Doe, We have a dice bot installed on our Discord server, but our games are running through Hangouts, so we’re suggesting the use of Roll for Your Party website.

  7. I’ve got a quick question Rich. I just had a participant drop out of both of my planned sessions of Fourth World so now I’m down to 1 and 2 players, respectively. I had wanted a minimum of 3. I was going to go ahead and run with 2 but I don’t think it’d work that well as a 1-on-1 game…is there some mechanism to let people know the game isn’t going to make?
