We have a fantastic Gauntlet Podcast for you this week.

We have a fantastic Gauntlet Podcast for you this week. Episode 104 is all about the 200 Word RPG Challenge. I sit down with David Schirduan, one of the contest organizers, and two of this year’s winners, Grant Howitt and Andy Millar, to discuss the contest itself, working within the 200 word constraint, the winning entries, upcoming projects they are each working on, and more!

You can learn more about the 200 Word RPG Challenge here: https://200wordrpg.github.io

Enjoy!

  1. I am always amazed at what happens to my writings when I have to limit the word count. Its generally improves the language and forces me to trust the reader to figure out the implied details. If you have read any of my G+ posts you know I like to rant and give to many specific examples. Looking forward to hearing it

  3. Ha. When one of my favorite pod cast’s hosts shit talks the hosts of one of my other favorite pod casts. The dudes over at System Mastery are probably the guys you where talking about who wanted a conflict resolution mechanic for it to be considered a game.

  5. Nery Mejicano I wouldn’t characterize it as shit-talking as much as just highlighting the difference of opinions. And it wasn’t just them, to be fair. Kate and I were the only judges on the call who felt the way we did.

  7. Jason Cordova shit talking may be over stating it a bit. But dont feel bad, they built a whole pod cast about shit talking about old rpgs. Funny thing is they felt they where the only judges not into indy/story-games.

  9. When you talked with Grant about additional word count, I thought, “yes, I’m happy with the size of my 2017 submission. I don’t think additional space would add much.”

Then, Andy’s response reminded me of my 2016 submission, and I think I’m going to revisit that in an expanded format (less than 1000 words, I hope)
