Hi everyone, thanks for having me here!

I was recommended to check this community out, as I’m planning to do some research for an upcoming project this winter. It has been something of a slow burner for me, but became something I needed to investigate after I started to work with user experience design last year. As I love the collaboration part of design processes, and opinions during playtesting can be quite challenging to deal with, to see what a game system would look like if it was based upon user feedback directly became an intriguing idea I felt I just had to explore.

So my question is (to admins and all other members here) if it would be okay to do a survey consisting of some 20 questions here, as a poll using the G+ built-in poll functionality. Would it be okay?

The results will be compiled and made free to use for anyone who is interested.

Thanks /Chris

  1. I can’t speak for the admins, but I will advise against using a Google+ poll. They can only handle a single question and five choices per question, which would be pretty spammy and impractical for a twenty question survey, plus the results are publicly visible so that will taint your results.

Maybe try Google forms instead, they work pretty well: https://www.google.com/forms/about/

  3. Good point, thanks! The thing is that I’m after quantitative results in this phase of the project, so I’m afraid asking people to leave G+ might be too much. But I’ll think about it, you definitely got a point there.

  5. I don’t think it would be too much; probably anyone willing to take the time to answer a twenty question survey in the first place will be willing to do it in a new browser tab.

  7. It won’t be 20 straight away, but at the current state it sums up to about 20 questions. But depending on feedback and responses, that number may vary. The 20 are divided into several categories, so I planned to take them one by one to not overwhelm everyone. I also don’t have the time currently to do them all at once.

  9. Hi Christian, and welcome! I’d be curious about the pace at which you roll out these polls, but provided you aren’t flooding the stream, I think it would be fine (one poll every couple of days seems like a reasonable pace).
