I’m doing some research for a new game idea, and as you folks are pretty experienced I thought I’d crowdsource some recommendations of games to read. My question: what games do travel well?
I’m interested in the journey rather than the destination – how have games made the travelling process fun, outside of random encounter tables?
Ryuutama. A pleasant lil Japanese game about traveling the land in a caravan.

Never played it, but I’ve heard that The One Ring does journeying well.

I second Fall of Magic. I’ve played through it twice. It’s amazing. And all about the journey, very lord of the rings but not boring.

Aaron Griffin 1) the idea that the party has roles as relevant in travel as in combat, 2) The system of Status represents well the stress in a journey, 3) the encounters with specific context propel fiction forward nicely .
