Patreon Update

I am happy to report we have hit our Patreon goal of $650! That means we will be able to produce our two deluxe issues of Codex, The Company of the Three Kings Annual and the Discern Realities Annual!

I have a few new patrons to name Keepers of the Gauntlet, and will be doing that in the next week or two.

In the meantime, we are deeply humbled by, and grateful for, your support of everything we do in the Gauntlet. But now the question is: where do we go from here?

We hit our first Patreon goal, Comic Strip AP, and have delivered on that promise.

We hit our second Patreon goal, the Dr. Tom the Frog Show, and that is well underway (the new YouTube channel was originally put together for Dr. Tom purposes).

Even before we hit the most recent goal, I was beginning the planning for the two deluxe issues of Codex.

So what’s next? I have a few ideas in mind, but I’d love to hear back from the community, too.

  1. Gauntlet shaped dice. You heard me, not dice with the logo stamped on one of the sides, but dice shaped like a gauntlet. So I can casually work “throwing the gauntlet” into more conversations. Minis may be acceptable.

  3. If we did something like a GauntletCon, it would probably be fairly small in scope for the first couple of years. It also wouldn’t be free (though Patrons would likely get some kind of discount on their tickets).

  5. Pay the GMs. Also, I’d like to suggest that any long-form APs you do also be released as audio on an RSS feed. Watching long YouTube videos is always an exercise in frustration, as they frequently start from the beginning when I come back to them (and the video component is rarely necessary for an AP).

  7. Online Cons are hard to organize, but they also have great potential to bring in new GMs, new players, panels, etc. I bet Saffire Rainbo could come up with some great ways that this could help with your Inclusiveness goals for 2017.

It would be brilliant if we could come up with something unique for a con, like 4 concurrent games of Monster Hearts in the same city or high school, which might have crossovers after the 2-hour mark…

This group is creative — I’m sure we could make something bizarrely unique and grow it.

  9. Yeah! No I mean with panels and the whole deal. Maybe a cool DW adventure centerpiece gets turned into a PDF for participants later? Or each time the con gets put on there’s a certain theme that all the games need to incorporate like Game Chef but for games, or that match the codex themes or something…

  11. I like the GauntletCon idea, but don’t want to leave out anyone due to location. The Gauntlet is an inclusive and global organisation!

    What about a global con?

People gather locally (at a store, home, or restaurant), but each of these locations are linked via Hangouts.

The games can be interactive as well, the group in the UK may start a DW game, and then switch payers with Houston.

Another idea would be a DW adventure that all locations play simultaneously–like to win a race, a bunch of adventures looking for the same treasure, or groups all fighting off the same invading force.

The last part ties in well with the Living Campaign of the Three Kings well.
