What if a story game and an OSR game had a baby? Oh, and the artwork is fantastic too.

  1. Black Hack didn’t have any artwork and had 600 people kickstart it first right. If you want artwork, you’ll need to pay more, always. At this price Slade will probably pay off the art in 4-6 months yet.

There should be a rules preview, check it out! It’s really awesome what he’s done with it. Adding details was very cool.

  3. Is there a different rules preview than the 4 page one on drivethru?

I would love a no-art version to check out the rules, because the blurb and the 4 (really 2) page preview is not enough. Even description of rules would do šŸ˜‰

  5. I am not sure, I know there is a review floating around though Slade Stolar who wrote it up? Do you have a link? The last two pages there in the preview really highlight the difference between black hack and his though, it goes into scene details and a few other things there I believe.

  7. Thanks for linking the review Slade Stolar, it touches on some good ideas, especially with the details. As I understand it from it, you roll to add/change a detail, which is an interesting approach on its own and an interesting take on the Success/Failure dichotomy.

From the review and preview it seem pretty interesting, but still doesn’t give me enough info to make a decision. I guess I will wait for some more reviews before deciding if I want to pick it up.

  9. Fred BednarskiĀ I am going to be playing with Slade in a bit, once I see how it’s supposed to go I’ll ask Jason about putting it on hangouts and I’ll run it.

  11. I haven’t had time to check this out yet, but we talk about the Black Hack on Episode 70 of The Gauntlet Podcast (comes out Sunday). I’d like to revisit this thread after that episode comes out to see how people think this game compares to the Black Hack, vis-a-vis our comments on that game.

  13. I previewed on drive thru and looks great, I love the OSR and story game juxtaposition, I’ll be placing my order soon!

Any chance of a physical book soon on drive thru? Or maybe lulu print on demand?

I’m talking to two groups: a PoD group and a small-print-run group. I have to make some modifications to the file for printing (CMYK and ink restrictions), which I will do on Monday. In short, “Yes, I’m actively working on it, and I’ll keep people updated.”

  17. We just got done playing it and I really loved it, I think Slade is going to be editing the video so people will be able to see how it works without giving up too much of their time. For me it is the perfect marriage between OSR and Storygames, it’s really great.
