Comicpalooza 2016 Report:
It was kinda funny. I got loose from official duties long enough to go attend a panel about Narrative Authority, given by Chris Avellone of Planescape and Fallout fame. In the Q&A, a lot of the questions that came up were things like “how do I make the players care about the world?” and “how do I work their characters into the fiction?”
I feel like next year we need to have The Gauntlet giving some panels, because so many of those questions have already been solved thanks to storygaming! There’s so many people who don’t realize we have not only the answers, but the amazing game experience they’ve been looking for! Almost every question that was asked could of been answered with an hour of running Dungeon World or any PbtA game I feel!
Shout-out to the Gauntleteers who were also there at con!

Heh. Why wait until next year? Why not do it ourselves? And when are we going to have Gauntlet redefine virtual cons?
Ignore me. I have been known to lead people down wondrous and thorny paths… 😉

That’s so funny. I told Anne anyone who has been to a Wednesday FtF at Jax would have had some answers. They were really talking about sharing the narrative authority in standard RPG’s. I feel more strongly than ever we need to be a presence at Comicpalooza. These people want the new stuff.

My eye is (slowly) turning to conventions, and how The Gauntlet can start promoting and/or having a presence at them. Comicpalooza might be a great start, since the gaming in that one is a little thin when it comes to story games and indie games. I think we could really serve a purpose there. Ferrell Riley let’s keep talking about it for next year. Once the Patreon gets started, I’d like to do vertical vinyl banners and tablecloths with logos. No reason why we can’t do some promotion while we’re running our games.
